Urawa Reds already know they will be heading home from the Club World Cup after the group stage, but their final opponents, Mexican outfit Monterrey, still have a decent chance of qualification. They have to beat the Japanese side by two goals to guarantee their passage through to the knockout stages, as Inter Milan face off against River Plate at the top of the group.

A win for either side in that fixture would allow Monterrey to finish a point clear of third, while a draw would take things down to goal difference. Exciting stuff as Group E reaches its conclusion, and below you can find my Urawa Reds vs Monterrey Bet Builder Tips (02:00 BST, DAZN).

Urawa Reds vs Monterrey Bet Builder Tips

Monterrey to win

I’m going to back the Mexican side to get maximum points in their final group game and take themselves within touching distance of the last 16. They’ve got two creditable draws against Inter Milan and River Plate and as a result, now need three points against the worst team on paper in the group.

The game state also works in their favour and with Urawa already out of the competition, they could rotate. Their manager has named the same team in both games so far and now their preferred XI is in need of a rest.

The Liga MX outfit have managed to grind out two draws so far against superior opposition, and now the onus is on them to get the job done. They will have to show slightly more going forward to secure the points, but against this Urawa Reds outfit, I believe they will get the job done.

Urawa Reds vs Monterrey Stats

  • Sergio Ramos has scored five goals in 11 matches for Monterrey
  • Urawa Reds have had nine shots on target over two matches at the CWC

Sergio Ramos to score and get booked

We have to focus on the main man for the crux of this Bet Builder. Sergio Ramos is all-action, and has been one hell of a signing for Monterrey since his arrival in February. His goalscoring record is one that can match most strikers, as he has found the net five times in 11 matches in all competitions, including landing the opening goal against Inter Milan at the Club World Cup.

That made him the oldest goalscorer in the history of the competition at 39 years and 80 days old, and I don’t think he is done yet. Ramos is obviously a set piece threat having scored three of his five goals with his head, but he’s also converted two penalties and that gives him a far higher chance of scoring in this fixture in my eyes.

Today's Football Fixtures

He’s a confident penalty taker and his record is excellent, so I’m happy to back him to score here. Meanwhile, we have to back him to also be booked as his side picked up five yellows against River Plate last Sunday. He has managed to avoid a caution at the CWC so far, but surely it is only a matter of time, given his reputation.

Urawa Reds Over 3.5 shots on target

Urawa have actually been fairly free-flowing when it comes to shots in this tournament, despite their lack of points. Against a strong Inter outfit they managed three on target and five in total, while against River Plate they fired in nine shots, with six of those landing on target.

Up against slightly weaker opponents, I think they will be confident in front of goal and so I’ve added them to land over 3.5 shots on target to this Bet Builder at a big price. That brings our odds up to 28/1 for this Group E clash.
