Tennis Betting Tips: Alcaraz can shine on his return to Queen’s

There's plenty of tennis coming our way across Tuesday with a wide range of ATP and WTA events taking place. This gives me a lot of options for my Tennis Betting Tips, and the tournaments that have caught my eye are the ones at Queen's and Nottingham.
Read on to find out today's selections.
Tennis Betting Tips - Tuesday, June 17
Game Handicap - Carlos Alcaraz -5.5 vs Alejandro Davidovich Fokina @ 5/6
The 2023 Queen's victor Carlos Alcaraz returns to West Kensington on Tuesday as part of his preparations for Wimbledon later this month, where he is going to be the two-time defending champion.
The world number two is in action for the first time since his demanding triumph at Roland Garros, which saw him come from two sets down to beat Jannik Sinner, the man who holds top spot in the rankings.
The Spaniard hasn't had much grass preparation, but that didn't stop him last year. He is up against compatriot Alejandro Davidovich Fokina on Tuesday and he recently got married so he too is unlikely going to have spent a great deal of time on the practice court.
This could be a game that goes the distance but I expect Alcaraz's quality to shine through, so I think there is value in covering him with a -5.5 game handicap.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
Set Betting - Ben Shelton to beat Arthur Rinderknech 2-0 @ 8/11
Also in action at Queen's is America's Ben Shelton, and he squares up against France's Arthur Rinderknech. Shelton impressed in Stuttgart last week on his run to the semi-finals.
He wasn't broken in three matches during that run so he has had an excellent start to the grass-court season, whether he can maintain that is another thing. Shelton is in much better shape than his opponent ahead of their meeting, though, so I think he can at least have a positive start in West Kensington.
The two players play similar games which could make this a bit of a chess match, but I believe Shelton possesses much greater power which I think will prove too much for Rinderknech to handle.
I'm backing Shelton to prevail in straight sets.

Set Betting - Beatriz Haddad Maia to beat McCartney Kessler 2-1 @ 16/5
Over in Nottingham, Brazil's Beatriz Haddad Maia will be hoping for a better run than the one she had at Queen's last week, only making it to the second round - losing to America's Emma Navarro.
She has strong pedigree on grass but consistency has been a problem for her this season, with seven wins from 24 matches. She faces McCartney Kessler in the East Midlands on Tuesday, with the pair having met just once before previously. It was the final of Tennis in the Land in Cleveland, which Kessler won in three sets.
The American may have the psychological advantage coming into this match but she is far less experienced on grass than her opponent, which may just play int Haddad Maia's hands. The Brazilian will need to show some composure here but I think she has what it takes to progress to the next round.
I'll go with Haddad Maia in three sets.
