Horse Racing Tips: We predict a Riot!

Flat racing holds sway across the UK on Sunday, while Ireland has one Flat and one jumps meeting.
In the UK there are meetings at Salisbury, Hamilton and Doncaster while in Ireland they go on the Flat at Gowran Park and over jumps at Downpatrick. Among our horse racing tips for Sunday is one dropping in class who has a good record at Doncaster.

13:50 Doncaster - Riot @ 10/3
David O’Meara’s stalwart RIOT looks to have plenty going for him in this ordinary contest and can notch his first win since last summer.
Encouragingly that win came over course and distance on fast ground and he also won on one of his two other visits here in July 2023.
Both of those wins came off higher marks - in fact his win last summer was off a mark fully 10lb higher than today which sees him compete off the lowest mark of his career.
He is also dropped into a Class 5 for the very first time as a result of two indifferent performances this turf season, the first of which saw him returning from an absence.
He was unable to get into the race last time, a fiercely competitive Class 4 at York, but that was a much stronger contest than this and a couple of the other also-rans from that race have won since.

16:15 Hamilton - Station X @ 9/1
The rain has arrived just in time for Bryan Smart’s upwardly mobile three-year-old STATION X to make his seasonal debut.
Clearly ready to go for a while, (he was a non-runner at Haydock in May due to the ground being too quick), wins on heavy and soft ground last autumn indicate that underfoot conditions are clearly important.
He ran well on his only start at this course on his handicap debut last July, when he was just pegged back having blazed a trail from the off. That came on good ground so with softer conditions today, jockey Paul Mulrennan should be able to take up a prominent position without too much trouble.
Mulrennan is 4-9 for the Smart stable this year and can improve that record on this progressive colt.

18:15 Hamilton - Impressor @ 20/1
Another for whom conditions have come right is Phillip Makin’s course specialist IMPRESSOR who has been restricted to one start this season.
He was well down the field that day but that performance is easily forgiven as it was over 5f at Carlisle. He also bled, but as he has no history of such problems so it was hopefully a one-off.
He has been first or second in six of his 11 starts at Hamilton, being narrowly beaten in a similar contest to this last August on soft ground.
The rain is important as all of his wins have come on good to soft or softer, and the more give underfoot the better as his best ever run came on heavy ground, while his two wins at this course came on soft and heavy going.
