Lucky 15 Tips: Sean evokes memories of AP, and Jonjo

Brilliant Saturday fare is the order of the day, and I've previewed some fabulous action that will be be taking place in front of the ITV cameras from York, Sandown and Chester.

Let's head off to Uttoxeter for our Lucky 15 tips, for a lovely change. I've happily been to the Staffordshire track many, many times over the years and their seven-race evening card kicks in at 17:40. The great Sean Bowen is among the jocks in attendance and I've been getting AP McCoy/Jonjo O'Neill vibes about his performance levels of late - for me, he's in that class. He rode a winner at Perth that had me scratching my head and just looking on in awe, frankly.

What a talent.

17:40 - Hope Rising @ 1/1

Gavin Sheehan rides for Jamie Snowden - do bears disappear into the woods now and then - on this four-year-old Phoenix Of Spain filly.

Hope Rising won last time very easily at Southwell in a maiden hurdle and that performance reads quite nicely in this field of novices. Great chance of following up.

18:10 - Magical Arthur @ 11/2

Luke Scott claims a valuable 5lbs off the back of Magical Arthur, trained by Jennie Candlish locally and a frequent scorer here down the years. Had a pipe-opener 39 days ago at Worcester and should strip much fitter today.

Carries topweight of 12st but has earned that right.

18:40 - Laravie @ 6/5

The great Sean Bowen, and Newmarket trainer James Owen, team up with Laravie, a six-year-old mare who won comfortably at Stratford a fortnight ago. Sean's current 14-day strike-rate is 26%, while James is marginally better at 27%.

I think the expression is 'go figure.' Great chance.

19:40 - Gale Mahler @ 10/3

Jockey Brian Hughes has won previously on this six-year-old mare, trained by Adrian Paul Keatley in North Yorkshire, and she's won on this course too.

Very respectable 'chase debut 17 days ago at quirky Cartmel, and Gale Mahler can put that experience to good use here. Much better hurdler than two of his opponents and his likely main rival, Anyharminasking, is making its debut over the larger obstacles.

Former champion Hughesie's no slouch in the plate, either.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
