Horse Racing Tips: Musicka can play to the tune on the Knavesmire

There’s another big Saturday of Premier Racing action this afternoon with the best of the action domestically coming from York. There’s a seven-race card packed with competitive action on the Knavesmire including some sprint handicaps with Betfred paying extra places.

I've landed on a few horse racing tips from across the cards - including an each-way pick in York’s opener and a runner over jumps in Ireland.

13:30 York - Musicka each-way @ 16/1

David O’Meara is a dab hand with his sprinters and one that looks overpriced in York’s six-furlong opener is MUSICKA.

This son of Kyllachy has done more than his fair share of winning down the years, winning 18 of his 129 starts and proved he’s still a real threat at this sort of level when narrowly prevailing at Redcar last time out.

He was on a career-low mark last time out but he’s only up 4lb and a return to the Knavesmire will hold no fears, having gained two wins at the track including a course and distance success.

Ben Robinson gets on well with the horse and has been on board for each of his last couple of wins and his mount was going close off higher marks than this last summer.

The veteran is often at his best from the front, a racing style that is often seen to good effect on York’s sprint track and Musicka looks like the main pace angle from the horses drawn low.

At a double-figure price in an Extra Place Race, with Betfred paying five places instead of four, he looks good each-way value.

15:05 Listowel - Kara Sacre @ 7/4

There’s every chance that a step up in distance is really going to help the well-bred KARA SACRE gain a first win under rules.

This point-to-point winner only found one too good on his rules debut before another placed effort at Down Royal earlier this month and he already sets a solid standard on form so if he does find any improvement for the new distance on Saturday, expect him to be a tough nut to crack.

16:25 York - Munsif @ 11/4

Another horse that looks capable of going well on the Knavesmire this Saturday is the unbeaten MUNSIF in the penultimate contest on the card.

He was good value for the winning margin at Nottingham on his debut in April and he followed up in facile fashion when bolting up at Pontefract later that month.

Now he has the assistance of Ryan Moore in the saddle and there’s every chance this slightly longer trip will see this son of Sea The Stars to even better effect.

An opening mark of 87 looks on the lenient side for handicap debut and he looks capable of going well for Roger Varian, a trainer who is really hitting form again over the last few days.
