Lucky 15 Tips: Four strong fancies to follow on Monday

It’s Bank Holiday Monday in Britain and there’s plenty to look forward to, with five meetings taking place across the country. Ballinrobe provides Ireland’s sole fixture and the €100,000 Mayo National is the big race there.
Windsor gets us started in the afternoon and the action comes thick and fast from Cartmel, Redcar, Leicester and Huntingdon after that. We’ve had a close look at the action and picked out four strong fancies that can be combined to form a Lucky 15, which could be worth following across the day.
Lucky 15 Tips - Monday, May 26
15:20 Windsor – Durham Castle @ 9/4
Simon & Ed Crisford run the lightly raced and hopefully still unexposed DURHAM CASTLE. He has had only four outings to date and it took him a couple of runs to get the hang of things but the four-year-old is well and truly on the up.
He got off the mark when winning a Southwell maiden in good style in August and he was well on top at the finish, after making all the running. Bolting up on his handicap debut at Goodwood next time, he can follow up here and defy a 9lb rise in the weights.
15:55 Windsor – Native Warrior @ 15/8
Nottingham maiden winner NATIVE WARRIOR looked in need of the run when finishing ninth in the Lincoln on his seasonal debut and you would imagine the four-year-old will step forward significantly from that effort.
It also helps that the handicapper has dropped him 1lb since, and he should be very competitive off 92, having finished third in a Royal Ascot handicap off 2lb lower.
Karl Burke’s gelding is yet to win in handicap company but his best form suggests he’s more than capable of doing so, and this is almost certainly his best opportunity yet. A return to winning ways has to be on the agenda sooner or later and this could be the day.
16:35 Redcar – Sir Lowry’s Pass @ 5/2
Continuing the theme of lightly raced and unexposed handicappers, Ed Walker’s SIR LOWRY’S PASS should have plenty more to give. He was a cosy winner of a Goodwood novice in September and that form looks pretty solid.
Second on his handicap debut at Newbury on his final start in 2024, he went one better in very good style at Goodwood this season. That two-length success indicates that he possesses a significant amount of ability and a 7lb rise might not be enough to stop him here.
17:10 Redcar – Staincliff @ 15/2
STAINCLIFF made light of a penalty in a Windsor novice over 5f last August and that was her first start for 284 days. It’s not very often that a horse wins by almost nine lengths over 5f and although she probably hasn’t quite reproduced that level since, Adrian Nicholls’ mare retains a significant amount of potential.
She’s making her stable debut here and the return to 6f looks likely to suit. She was a respectable third in a fair handicap over 7f at Wolverhampton when last seen, and the handicapper has generously decided to drop her 3lb since. She has also undergone wind surgery since then and she could well prove up to this task.
This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!
The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £335 for your total £7.50 stake.
