Yarmouth Tips: Risen can strike again

Yarmouth stages a six-race card on Thursday afternoon, with the Class 5 handicap over a mile and a quarter the highlight.

I've studied the card and come up with a few Yarmouth tips for consideration.

14:55 - Risen Again @ 5/4

RISEN AGAIN bolted up by six and a half lengths over course and distance eight days ago and a 5lb penalty is unlikely to stop Alice Haynes’ runner going in again.

The four-year-old won for the first time in 14 starts last week and the improved showing can be attributed to more positive tactics.

Cheekpieces were reapplied last time and Risen Again is officially 2lb ahead of the handicapper under his 5lb penalty.

The presence of Blenheim Star, who won well at Brighton last time out, should ensure a decent price and Risen Again looks set to score again.

16:25 - Giant @ 13/2

GIANT has been rated as high as 86 in the past and Richard Spencer’s charge ran well off that mark when fourth in a 0-105 handicap at Newcastle last year.

The gelding is down to a mark of 75 this afternoon and also drops to 0-75 company for the first time this term.

Neil Callan is back on board and it would be no surprise if the experienced rider attempted to boss this afternoon’s seven-furlong handicap from the front.

Giant looks best suited by today's trip and last month’s disappointing efforts at Wolverhampton and Kempton came over shorter.

The five-year-old wasn’t beaten far in fourth at Kempton last time and everything looks set for Giant to tower over his Yarmouth rivals.

17:00 - Artificer @ 9/2

ARTIFICER narrowly failed to follow up February's Chelmsford success at Doncaster last time out, but that was a good effort and Matt Crawley’s charge can return to the winner's enclosure in the closing race on the card.

The four-year-old kept on well at Town Moor last time and there could well be more to come on just her third start on turf.

Crawley’s runner remains on a mark of 57 and capable claimer Fred Daly takes off 7lb.

Everything is in place for a big run.
