Brighton vs liverpool predictions betting tips premier league monday may 19 2025

Brighton & Hove Albion's pursuit of an eighth-place finish, which could result in European football returning to Sussex next season, received a boost last weekend as they beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 at Molineux. Their visitors to the Amex Stadium on Monday (20:00, Sky Sports Main Event), 2024/25 Premier League champions Liverpool, are already 'on the beach' - a Dubai one, to be precise, as they jetted out to the UAE earlier this week for title celebrations, so the Seagulls might fancy their chances of a victory in their penultimate fixture.

Below are my Brighton and Liverpool predictions, supported by all the latest team news and match odds.

Team News

Brighton are boosted by the return of captain Lewis Dunk, who missed last Saturday's victory with a minor hamstring injury. However, the 33-year-old isn't guaranteed to start after Adam Webster joined Player of the Season Jan Paul van Hecke in the centre of defence last weekend and helped his side to a clean sheet at Molineux.

Meanwhile, Japanese winger Kaoru Mitoma, who hasn't started any of Brighton's previous four games, is likely to be utilised from the bench, at best, on Monday.

"Kaoru had some small issues, so hopefully he will be a possibility [for the squad]," Seagulls head coach Fabian Hurzeler told reporters on Friday.

Football Odds

Meanwhile, James Milner (thigh), Ferdi Kadioglu (toe), Solly March (knee) and Georginio Rutter (ankle), all of whom missed out against Wolves due to injury, are still in the Brighton treatment room.

Joao Pedro is back, though, after serving a three-match ban for a red card received in the 4-2 defeat at Brentford on April 19.

Liverpool vs Brighton Stats

  • Brighton are unbeaten in their last three games
  • Liverpool have lost two of their last three away matches
  • Brighton won the first half of their reverse fixture

Liverpool don't appear to have any injury concerns heading into Monday's meeting with Brighton, although it remains to be seen if Joe Gomez, who recently returned to training following a lengthy absence with a hamstring issue, is fit enough to make the matchday squad.

Conor Bradley looks set to start at right-back again, with Real Madrid-bound Trent Alexander-Arnold set to be benched again.

Jarell Quansah, Kostas Tsimikas, Wataru Endo, Harvey Elliott, Federico Chiesa and Darwin Nunez are among the fringe players looking to earn rare starts on the South Coast, but we can expect first-team stalwarts Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah to begin the game.

Brighton vs Liverpool Odds

Brighton are 8/5, or a 38.5% chance, to make it back-to-back wins on Monday, while Liverpool are 6/4 to record a hat-trick of victories over the Seagulls this season, implying a 40% probability.

The draw is priced at 11/4, both teams to score at 2/5, and over 2.5 total goals at 4/9.

Match Result & Both Teams To Score - Brighton & Yes @ 11/4

I backed a home win and both teams to score in Liverpool's last away game, at Stamford Bridge on May 4, and it was a winning selection at 12/5 as Chelsea triumphed 2-1 in west London.

Much of what applied to that fixture is also applicable for the Reds' next away outing, against Brighton at the Amex on Monday.

Liverpool have taken just a point from six on offer since sealing the Premier League title against Tottenham Hotspur (5-1) on April 27, losing to Chelsea before dropping a two-goal lead at home to Arsenal (2-2) last Sunday.

Arne Slot's side subsequently departed for Dubai, and it's fair to say that celebrations have taken priority over preparing for this game in Sussex.

While it's a relatively meaningless game for Liverpool, the same certainly can't be said for Brighton, who will be desperate to finish eighth and clinch a Uefa Conference League spot.

The Seagulls have experienced a topsy-turvy campaign, enjoying some great spells, like their current three-game unbeaten run, but also enduring long waits for a win.

They head into this one having beaten West Ham United (3-2) and Wolves (0-2), either side of a 1-1 draw at home against Newcastle United, so confidence should be high at Brighton ahead of the visit of the league champions.

Liverpool have already beaten Brighton twice this season, securing a 3-2 success at the Amex in the Carabao Cup on October 30 before triumphing 2-1 at Anfield three days later.

The South Coast club took the lead in L4 through Kadioglu, but two goals in three minutes from Cody Gakpo and Salah saw the Reds rally to all three points.

This time around, though, Liverpool have much less to play for, while the Seagulls will be going all out for victory.

I'm expecting the hosts to win on Monday, but I fancy the visitors to at least get themselves on the scoresheet, having struck in 35 of their first 36 Premier League games this season.

Brighton, meanwhile, have only kept one clean sheet in their last 10 league matches, and only Fulham (72%) have seen a higher percentage of their contests finish with both teams scoring than the Seagulls (69%) in 2024/25.

Half-time/Full-time - Brighton/Brighton @ 16/5

Liverpool have started slowly in their last three away games. Last time out on their travels, they conceded in the third minute at Stamford Bridge, and were 2-0 down before offering any sort of response via Van Dijk's 85th-minute consolation strike.

Before that Chelsea defeat, they beat Leicester City 1-0 at the King Power Stadium, but were reliant on Alexander-Arnold coming off the bench and scoring the winner in the 76th minute, while two weeks earlier, they were 3-1 down at half-time against Fulham and went on to lose 3-2 at Craven Cottage.

Brighton, meanwhile, took the lead in the 28th minute at Wolves last time out, going on to win the game 2-0, and they were leading 1-0 at half-time against Newcastle United in their last home match, only for Magpies striker Alexander Isak to equalise in the 89th minute.

The Seagulls were also 1-0 up at half-time against West Ham United on April 26, and subsequently won 3-2.

Hurzeler's side won the first half of their reverse fixture with Liverpool, but went on to lose 2-1.

This time around, I think they can hold on to their victory and land this 16/5 selection.
