Atalanta vs Roma Prediction: Kone to cause more angst for Ederson

A huge game awaits us at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo on Monday (19:45) as a couple of Uefa Champions League-chasing teams go head to head. Hosts Atalanta are in the driving seat as things stand, with the third-placed club enjoying a four-point gap to Juventus (fourth) and Lazio (fifth).
However, a defeat to AS Roma (sixth) on Monday would move I Giallorossi into fourth, just two points behind La Dea, and ramp up the pressure on Gian Piero Gasperini ahead of his side's final two fixtures against Genoa (A) and Parma (H). Below are my Atalanta vs Roma predictions, supported by all the latest team news and match odds.
Atalanta vs Roma Betting Tips

Team News
Atalanta star Ademola Lookman, heavily rumoured to be on his way in the summer, is doubtful for Monday's match due to an inflammation of the Achilles tendon in his right leg.
Odilon Kossounou was withdrawn at half-time of La Dea's 4-0 thrashing of Monza on May 4, but the Ivory Coast international has trained in the last few days and will be needed with fellow defenders Giorgio Scalvini (shoulder) and Sead Kolasinac (knee) out injured, and Isak Hien suspended due to an accumulation of yellow cards.
The participation of Austrian defender Stefan Posch (thigh) is also under threat, while Juan Cuadrado and Gianluca Scamacca (both thigh) are ruled out.
Atalanta vs Roma Stats
- Davide Zappacosta (ATA) is averaging 1.7 shots per 90 in 24/25 Serie A
- Matias Soule (ROM) is averaging 2.2 shots per 90 in 24/25 Serie A
- Ederson (ATA) committed two fouls in reverse fixture
Paulo Dybala (thigh) continues to miss out for Roma, who saw their skipper, Lorenzo Pellegrini, substituted at half-time of their 1-0 win over Fiorentina on May 4, with the Italian midfielder sidelined for the rest of the season with a muscle injury.
Niccolo Pisilli replaced Pellegrini at the start of the second half against La Viola and looks likely to take his place in the starting XI on Monday, although January arrival Lucas Gourna-Douath is a rival for his position.
Atalanta won the reverse fixture 2-0 in Rome last December and are 11/10 to do the double over Claudio Ranieri's side, implying a 47.6% probability, while Roma, unbeaten in Serie A since December 15, are 12/5, or a 29.4% chance, to make it four victories in a row.
The draw is priced at 5/2, both teams to score at 4/6, and over 2.5 total goals at 4/5.
Bet Builder - Davide Zappacosta (ATA) 2+ Shots & Matias Soule (ROM) 2+ Shots @ 9/4
For my first tip, I'm backing a player from both sides to record at least two shots.
First up is Atalanta wing-back Davide Zappacosta, who is averaging 1.7 shots per 90 minutes in Serie A this season. The 32-year-old has scored four league goals in 2024/25 and tried his luck three times in La Dea's last home game, a 1-1 draw with Lecce on April 27.
Roma have seen an opposition left-back/left wing-back shoot at least once in their last three away games, with Inter's Federico Dimarco registering a couple of efforts last time out, so Zappacosta should feel confident of getting some space to work shooting opportunities on Monday.
Next up is a couple of shots for Roma's Matias Soule, who is averaging 2.2 per game in the Italian top flight. The 22-year-old has taken at least two in three of his last four appearances and has become an even more integral player in the final third with Dybala still out injured, so expect him to line a couple of efforts up in Bergamo.
Player to Receive a Card - Ederson (ATA) @ 11/4
When picking a player in the card market, there are several factors to consider: how many fouls they commit, on average, per 90 minutes, how many fouls their direct opponents may win, on average, per 90, and the statistics from the previous meeting.
Atalanta midfielder Ederson ranks fairly average for fouls made per 90 (one) in Serie A this season, and has picked up only five yellow cards in 34 league appearances in 2024/25, although he saw red for two of those cautions in the same match against Inter on March 16.
However, the 25-year-old committed two fouls in December's reverse fixture with Roma, both on French midfielder Manu Kone, who won five free-kicks in that victory for La Dea. Kone is one of the most fouled players in Europe this season, averaging 2.9 fouls won per 90, and he could give Ederson another tough test on Monday.
