Two teams that mathematically can stil make the play-offs at the time of writing meet at The Den on Saturday afternoon (15:00), as Alex Neil’s Millwall host in-form Swansea City. Alan Sheehan has done a spectacular job since taking charge, winning seven of his 11 matches at the helm.

Both teams have to win to keep their faint hopes alive, so we should be in for a cracker. Below you can find my Millwall vs Swansea predictions.

Team News

Having beaten Norwich 3-1 last time out, Neil may choose to name the same XI. Mihailo Ivanovic scored twice and is forming an excellent partnership with Josh Coburn, while George Saville and Casper De Norre offer complete balance in midfield.

Femi Azeez and Luke Cundle were both dangerous on the flanks so should keep their spots while in defence, Japhet Tanganga returned from injury to partner Jake Cooper. Tristian Crama moved over to right-back while Chelsea loanee Zak Sturge performed well in his first start for the club at left-back. In goal, 19-year-old George Evans looks set to start again with Lukas Jensen ruled out for the rest of the season.

Millwall vs Swansea Stats

  • Millwall have won their last four home games
  • Swansea have won their last five matches
  • Mihailo Ivanovic has scored six goals in his last seven

Swansea are also unlikely to make too many changes after winning five games on the bounce. Ben Cabango and Harry Darling make up a solid defensive duo in front of Lawrence Vigouroux. Goncalo Franco, Lewis O’Brien and Jay Fulton are the midfield trio while Zan Vipotnik may replace Liam Cullen up top.

Ronald Pereira and Ji-Sung Eom started out wide and should also keep their places after impressive displays.

Millwall vs Swansea Odds

Millwall are 13/10 to win this one giving them an implied win probability of 43% ahead of this must-win clash. The home side have won 11 of 22 at the Den this season and will hope to end the season with a bang.

Swansea are 21/10 to continue their winning run, while a draw is 21/10. Over 2.5 goals is 11/8 and BTTS is 1/1, with Ivanovic the favourite to score first at 11/2.

Millwall to win @ 13/10

Sheehan has found the winning formula at Swansea over the last five games, but I just feel that run will come to an end at the Den. The Swans have done extremely well, we can’t argue with that, but three of those five wins have come against relegation-threatened teams and another came away at a misfiring QPR outfit.

They’ve also beaten Sunderland during that time but the Black Cats are preparing for the play-offs, so this will be Swansea’s biggest test so far. Millwall’s home record is sensational and they are also in good form. They’ve won their last four at home, while they have won four of their last five - with that hammering at Blackburn the only blemish to their recent record.

My chips land on the side of Millwall here. Looking at the two teams on paper, I feel Millwall have more to offer, especially with Tanganga back in the heart of defence.

Mihailo Ivanovic to score anytime @ 9/4

A player who I really like is Millwall’s Ivanovic. Still only 20 years old, he’s now scored 11 goals for the season after racking up a brace against Norwich last time out. He’s got all the physical qualities to flourish at this level and he’s certainly a striker I will be looking at to potentially win the Golden Boot in the Championship next term.

There’s plenty of improvement to be had, but he’s scored six goals in his last seven outings and I’m more than happy to back him to find the net again here. The battle between him and Cabango could decide this fixture.
