Rayo Vallecano vs Valencia (Saturday 13:00)

Two sides that appear to be heading in different directions clash in Madrid on Saturday lunch-time. Not so long ago, Rayo Vallecano were looking good for a European place, while Valencia were in deep relegation trouble, but Los Che would move level on points with their opponents were they to win this game.

Carlos Corberán is doing a terrific job with a Valencia side that is unbeaten in six matches heading into this, with four wins from their last five. That includes a shock 2-1 victory at the Bernabéu only a fortnight ago.

That result was Valencia's first away victory in La Liga this season, but they've been much better both home and away since the turn of the year, and have little reason to fear a return to the Spanish capital this weekend.

By contrast, the wheels have fallen off to some extent at Rayo Vallecano. Depth issues have been exposed in recents weeks by a number of injuries, and they've conceded seven goals in their two matches so far this month, including a woeful 4-0 defeat at home to struggling Espanyol in their last outing in Vallecas.

Their boss Iñigo Pérez has done a fine job overall, and was rightly rewarded with a new contract this week, but he doesn't seem to have any obvious solutions for their current struggles, particularly at the back with central defensive regular Abdul Mumin out injured, and unlikely to return until next season.

Valencia have to believe this is another game they can win, and one of their key attacking weapons is likely to be Diego López. The 22-year-old has improved his game this season, and he scored in all four of his team's matches in March, the month which saw one of Spain's biggest clubs finally put distance between themselves and the relegation zone.

López also had two attempts and hit the target against Sevilla last weekend, as Los Che picked up another three points with a 1-0 victory. He is surely one of the first names on Corberán's teamsheet right now, and the young winger is likely to be one of the away team's main goal threats in this match, so I'm using the Bet Builder to back Diego López 1+ shots on target at 2/1.

Las Palmas vs Atlético Madrid (Saturday 20:00)

The late game on Saturday in Spain features two sides who really need the three points for very different reasons.

For Atlético Madrid, who have no more cup distractions, the goal is a simple one. They just have to keep winning football matches and hope that Barcelona and Real Madrid slip up. Los Rojiblancos are seven points off the top of La Liga with seven games to play, but with the top two still to face each other, Diego Simeone's side will be hoping they can make use of what is quite a favourable schedule to at least apply some pressure.

As for Las Palmas, survival is the only goal and they'll be desperate to make home advantage count over the remaining few weeks. They won this fixture last season, and their hopes of survival this term were dealt a major boost by a 3-1 victory at Getafe last weekend, their first three points of 2025.

While Getafe had been reduced to 10 men by the time the first of those goals went in, their ability to score three times away against the team with La Liga's third-best defensive record has to give them confidence heading into this match.

In truth, scoring goals is not really their issue. Wolves loanee Fábio Silva has been a major hit in the Canary Islands, with his 10-goal return bettered by only three players in the bottom half of La Liga.

Oli McBurnie, another former Premier League forward, took until earlier this month to finally break his duck in the Spanish top flight, but he's now scored two in two, and his all-round contribution has been solid. No bottom-half player can better McBurnie's tally of six assists.

Under the guidance of Diego Martínez, Las Palmas have tried to play attack-minded football when possible, and their best path to safety is likely to revolve around continuing with that strategy, and it's perhaps no surprise that 73% of their home league games this season have seen both teams score.

67% of Atleti's away fixtures in La Liga have done likewise. Simeone has been able to rely on the likes of Julián Alvarez and Alexander Sørloth to be a regular source of goals, but their defence has not looked as convincing in recent weeks as was the case around the turn of the year.

They conceded twice at home to rock bottom Real Valladolid on Monday, and while they still won that game 4-2, questions are starting to be asked about defensive regulars Clément Lenglet and Javi Galán, and whether they are really of the level that Atleti need.

Overall, I can see this being a relatively open affair, with each side capable of creating chances in pursuit of victory, and I'm backing Both teams to score at 10/11.

Real Valladolid vs Osasuna (Sunday 13:00)

Osasuna travel to the José Zorrilla on Sunday, looking to put another nail in the coffin of Real Valladolid who are on course for relegation, and have been for some time.

They cannot be mathematically relegated this weekend, but we're not far off that point, given they only have 16 points and find themselves 14 from safety with only seven games to go.

Comfortably one of the worst teams we've ever seen in La Liga, nothing has gone right this season for Real Valladolid, and in truth it's hard to make a case for saying any of their players truly belong at this level. Their young winger Raúl Moro is perhaps the only one who may attract top flight interest this summer.

Losing Lucas Rosa and Juma Bah, two of their most promising players, in January didn't help matters. Despite a number of fresh faces coming in, an already struggling side was weakened rather than strengthened by their transfer window dealings, and the disconnect between the fans, owner and team only grew wider.

With only one point collected from their last 12 league games, this is now a very sorry state of affairs, and there's little that caretaker boss Álvaro Rubio can do to improve matters. His side did surprisingly score two goals at the Estadio Metropolitano on Monday night, but they conceded four for the second game running, and this season cannot end soon enough from their perspective.

Osasuna still have a shot at qualifying for Europe, so they're unlikely to be in any mood to show their struggling opponents mercy here.

It was a really tough winter for Vicente Moreno and his side who struggled to turn draws into victories, but they picked up a big three points last time out, with Ante Budimir and Pablo Ibáñez on target in a 2-1 home victory against Girona. That should certainly give them a timely confidence boost heading into this match.

Given only Kylian Mbappé and Robert Lewandowski have scored more goals than Budimir in La Liga this season, they should perhaps be doing slightly better. They have quite a strong midfield too, while key winger Bryan Zaragoza is fit again now after a long absence and he could potentially have an impact on this game off the bench.

This is a match that the visitors should be well capable of taking three points from against very weak opposition, and I'm backing Osasuna to win at 5/6.
