It doesn't seem so long ago that people were looking at Swansea City as credible relegation candidates in the Championship, but the Swans have been able to climb their way up to 12th, with 12 points separating them from the drop zone with the same amount of points left to play for. The scene isn't quite as colourful for Hull City, who they welcome to the Swansea.com Stadium on Friday (15:00, Sky Sports+).

The Tigers are 20th in the standings and are just three points above the bottom three. Below you will find my Swansea vs Hull predictions, accompanied by the latest match odds and team news.

Team News

Kristian Pedersen has been sidelined since November for Swansea and he is unlikely to return before the end of the season.

Myles Peart-Harris has been sent back to parent club Brentford because of a back issue he sustained against Preston North End on March 4. He is unlikely to return before the end of the season.

Interim Swansea boss Alan Sheehan may be tempted to go with the same XI that picked up an impressive away victory at Sunderland on Saturday, which featured Lewis O'Brien playing in a number 10 role behind Liam Cullen.

Ronald and Eom Ji-sung are expected to provide the width from the flanks once again, with the latter being rewarded with successive starts after his match-winning goal from the bench against Derby County on April 5.

Swansea vs Hull Stats

  • Swansea have won their last three league games to nil
  • Under 2.5 goals has struck in Hull's past five league matches

Hull have a few injuries of their own coming into this contest, with Mohamed Belloumi, Dogukan Sinik, Liam Millar and Louie Barry all out of action for the visitors. Eliot Matazo was ruled out of Monday's draw with Coventry and it is unlikely he will return in time for the trip to South Wales.

Should he miss out again, we may see Steven Alzate and Regan Slater continue as a double pivot.

In light of the injuries to his squad, Ruben Selles has put Joe Gelhardt and Lincoln on the flanks in recent games, and this may continue against the Swans. Goalkeeper Ivor Pandur's stock will have risen after another fine display on Monday and he will continue between the sticks for Hull.

Swansea vs Hull Odds

Swansea are on a three-game winning run in the Championship for the first time this season, and they are 11/8 (which has an implied probability of 42.1%) to extend their streak to four matches.

Two of Hull's previous four away trips in the second tier have ended in a stalemate and the draw is marketed at 21/10 on this occasion.

The Tigers have won a third (7/21) of their road trips in the league this term and they are 2/1 to collect the three points on Friday.

At least one team has failed to scored in eight of Swansea's past nine Championship appearances and BTTS No is available at 10/11.

Swansea to win to nil @ 11/4

Sheehan is certainly making his case to be awarded the Swansea gig full-time. He has overseen nine league games since the dismissal of Luke Williams and he has guided the Swans from 17th to 12th, picking up 17 points in the process.

The caretaker boss has steered the club away from relegation trouble and they are looking to end the season strongly. Over the last eight games, Swansea rank fifth in the form table, helped by their three-game winning streak coming into Friday.

Each of those victories saw them record a clean sheet in the process and I believe this trend can continue against Hull. The Tigers have just one win in their past six away trips in the league and they are facing a Swansea team who are playing with confidence that we've not seen before this campaign.

They fought hard to earn a point at home to Coventry last time out, but facing the in-form Swans in South Wales is going to be a very tough test, especially given their current predicament.

Under 2.5 goals @ 8/13

I do think that there will be a shortage of goals on offer in SA1, though, as both teams have been accustomed to low-scoring matches in recent weeks. Hull's last five appearances in the second tier have featured fewer than three goals, including three away fixtures.

Additionally, three of Swansea's past four Championship games on home soil have produced under 2.5 goals.

Hull's desperation for points may make this a bit cagey at times and I think it will limit the number of goals we witness in South Wales.
