Inter Milan vs Bayern Munich Bet Builder Tips: 40/1 shot for goals and cards

San Siro will play host to the second leg of a Champions League quarter-final which sees Inter Milan carry a narrow 2-1 advantage over Bayern Munich. This one kicks off at 20:00 on Wednesday night, and for one of these European giants, the journey ends here.

Harry Kane and Lautaro Martinez to score

The first leg of this one saw a phenomenal counter-attacking display from Inter Milan, as they struck late on to take a one-goal advantage back to Italy. It makes this tie an incredibly difficult one to predict, especially considering the talent on both sides, so for my Bet Builder I’m hoping for cards and goals. 

Inter are 14 matches unbeaten at San Siro and have a chance to win the treble this season, and they’ve also now won five matches in a row in the Champions League for the first time since 2009/10. They won the European Cup that year under Jose Mourinho and will be hoping for a similar end to this season’s competition. 

Now, the Nerazzurri have progressed from 21 of their previous 23 Champions League ties after winning the first leg, however last season they did go out to Atletico Madrid, despite beating them in leg one. So although Inter are favourites, I will steer clear of backing them to progress. 

However, I will choose both Harry Kane and Lautaro Martinez to find the net in what should be another open and exciting encounter. These are two of the best strikers on the planet, and I think both teams will get on the scoresheet in this second leg. 

Football Odds

Kane missed a sitter from close range which could have changed the entire complexity of the tie, but he isn’t one to waste too many chances. He’s now scored 44 goals in 45 matches, eight out of 10 in the Champions League, so let’s back him to score in this crucial away tie. 

Martinez also needs no introduction and his goal in the first leg took his total to seven goals in 10 Champions League fixtures this term. Impressively, six of those have come in his last four appearances, while he has also notched 12 in Serie A. Two impressive goalscorers can strike again on Wednesday night.

Konrad Laimer and Benjamin Pavard to get booked

I also believe we will see a more physical affair than we did in Germany, but even in that one Inter picked up four yellows and Bayern one. I think with everything on the line we could see the referee pull out the cards quickly, so I’m happy to back two likely candidates to pick up yellows.

Konrad Laimer should start at right-back again for the visitors and he has picked up 10 yellows already this term - two of those coming in this competition. He’s set for another busy afternoon as he tries to deal with that dangerous front two, and I can see him putting in a couple of fouls and getting booked at some stage. 

Meanwhile, Benjamin Pavard is coming up against his former club and will start as part of Inter’s back three. The Frenchman has got six yellow cards this season in all competitions but he will have his hands full with the likes of Kane, Leroy Sane and Michael Olise running at him.
