Leicester vs Manchester United Bet Builder Tips: 10/1 for more Bruno magic

Manchester United kept their season going with victory in the Europa League on Thursday, and they will visit a familiar face on Sunday night as Ruben Amorim’s men face off against Ruud van Nistelrooy’s Leicester City. This one kicks off at the strange time of 19:00 on Sunday evening as United hope to continue their mini-resurgence at the King Power.

What’s this I’m feeling? Confidence that Manchester United will win a game of football? How strange. It may be about 12 months since I felt certain that United would deliver three points, but they’ve certainly turned a corner over the last week. 

I think the press run that Jim Ratcliffe did, combined with the announcement of the new stadium, followed up by a thumping over Real Sociedad, has brought a sense of positivity and new hope to Old Trafford. They’ve got a real chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season if they can win the Europa League, and that would mark a successful campaign given where they sit in the Premier League. 

Talking of the Premier League, they travel to relegation-threatened Leicester City looking to get one over on one of their former greats. Van Nistelrooy hasn’t been able to work his magic with the Foxes and they are in dire form, having lost their last five games in the league without scoring. United are unbeaten in their last three league games and should have more than enough to get the job done. 

Bruno Fernades to score

United’s main man. I backed him to find the net in midweek and he duly delivered not once, not twice, but three times. During that prediction I also pointed out the fact that he is an incredibly reliable penalty taker, and he converted twice from the spot to turn the game around for United.

Sometimes football is a simple game. United aren’t stacked full of quality but Bruno Fernandes is their best player, and given he takes pretty much all of their set-pieces, it makes sense for him to be the one to back to find the net. He scored a wonderful free-kick against Arsenal so now has four goals in his last two appearances. I’ll get on side and back him to continue this goalscoring run of form against a Leicester outfit that has conceded 13 goals in their last five PL matches - and lost 2-1 against United in the FA Cup this season. 

Boubakary Soumare to get booked

A Leicester yellow will boost our Bet Builder to 10/1. Leicester have 62 yellows to their name this term and no reds, and it’s Boubakary Soumare that has picked up the most in the league for them, with eight so far. The combative midfielder is certain to start for Van Nistelrooy alongside Wilfred Ndidi and that’s a defensive duo that lacks creativity, but isn’t afraid to get stuck in. 

Up against the likes of Fernandes, they are going to be in for a tough night and I can’t see them having lots of the ball. That means Soumare could be chasing shadows, and he’s likely to add to the 19 fouls he’s committed this term. Eight yellow cards in 19 fouls also suggests that the fouls he is making are quite strong, so I’m more than happy to back him to find his way into the referee’s notebook.
