Liverpool vs Newcastle Bet Builder Tips: 60/1 shout for Salah and Isak

Here we are then. It feels like the title is now in Liverpool’s hands and it is only a matter of time until they lift their second Premier League crown. With an 11-point lead over Arsenal established over the weekend, Betfred have paid out on the Reds to win the title, although complacency in Liverpool’s ranks could cause issues.
Their next test is a tricky one on Wednesday night as they host Newcastle United (20:15, TNT Sport 1), who are coming off the back of an enthralling 4-3 win over fellow Champions League chasers Nottingham Forest. Below you can find my Liverpool vs Newcastle Bet Builder Tips as we search for a big winner this midweek.
Liverpool vs Newcastle Bet Builder Tips
- Mo Salah and Alexander Isak to score
- Alexis Mac Allister to get booked
- Dan Burn to get booked
Bet Builder pays 60/1
Mo Salah and Alexander Isak to score
This is an obvious choice from both angles, but one I’m really keen to get behind. The two best forwards in the league this season meet at Anfield, and both should be certain of a place in the PFA Team of the Year come summer. Salah is putting up one of the best Premier League seasons ever, with 25 goals and 16 assists in 27 games.
Those numbers are insane, and of course he stepped up to the plate again against Manchester City with the opening goal of the game, and while Erling Haaland’s Premier League goal record of 36 seems some way off, he could break his own personal best tally of 32. The Egyptian King is also on track to break Thierry Henry’s record of 20 assists in one season, so expect him to turn up on both counts against Newcastle.
- Salah has 25 goals and 16 assists from 27 games this season
- Isak has scored 19 goals, the same number as Erling Haaland
Another point to note is that I’m not keen to back Liverpool to win a short price given I feel there could be a level of complacency setting in, and they have a Champions League tie against PSG to look forward to after this game. But I do think there will be goals. At both ends.
That means backing Alexander Isak to also find the net at Anfield. He’s now scored 19 goals in the league this season, the same number as Erling Haaland, after his brace in the space of two minutes against Forest. He’s six goals behind Salah, but arguably the best central striker in the division, and should be able to find success against the Reds. It should be a cracker!
Alexis Mac Allister to get booked
Hello faithful friend. This has been a successful pick in recent months for the Betfred Insights team, and we will go back to the well here. There’s a few reasons why I fancy this pick. First of all, Alexis Mac Allister has been booked six times in the Premier League for the Red, but 10 times in all competitions. No Liverpool player has received more bookings than him in the league this term, with Darwin Nunez and Dominik Szoboszlai joining him on six apiece.
- Alexis Mac Allister has picked up 10 yellows in all comps
- Bruno Guimaraes is the most-fouled player in the league (85)
He’s set for a tough battle in midfield when you consider that part of the pitch is a strong point for the visitors. Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes are two tough competitors, and Bruno is the most-fouled player in the league this season, having been decked 85 times so far in 2024/25.
Liverpool’s Argentine hasn’t been booked in his last four league games, since picking up a yellow vs Bournmeouth on the first of this month, but I believe it’s now just a matter of time before he finds himself in the referee’s notebook. I’ll back him to pick up a yellow in this one.
Dan Burn to get booked
We’ll also add a Newcastle defender to pick up a yellow card here given Liverpool’s impressive attacking displays at home. You have to assume that they will have the majority of the play here and as a result, Eddie Howe’s defence will be up against it.
Salah’s form is simply staggering and so I was tempted to pick out Lewis Hall as the defender to get booked, but the stats show this season that he has been remarkably tidy defensively, and has only picked up three yellows along the way. I’ll instead go for the man who should play as the left centre-back, in Dan Burn. Burn’s size and stature comes with its positives from an aerial perspective, but I can’t help but feel he may be caught out by one of Liverpool’s dazzling attackers.
- Dan Burn has seven yellow cards this term
Burn has picked up seven yellow cards this season, with only the injured Joelinton getting more yellows from a Newcastle perspective this term. A thriller at Anfield with a couple of bookings seems feasible, and this Bet Builder comes in at 60/1.
