Sevilla vs Mallorca Prediction: Home side can edge it

We’ve got La Liga action coming our way on Monday night as both Sevilla and Mallorca search for back-to-back wins. This one kicks off at the Estadio Ramon at 20:00 GMT with the hosts looking to close the four point gap that lies between them and sixth-placed Rayo Vallecano. 

Below you can find my Sevilla vs Mallorca predictions as Los Nervionenses look to maintain the good run of form that has seen them lose just one of their last six games. 

Team News

Saul Niguez and Loic Bade should be back in the squad having missed the 4-0 win over Real Valladolid through suspension. Saul could come straight into the middle but is more likely to start on the bench given Juanlu Sanchez scored twice in his absence in that big win. 

Meanwhile Bade should get his place back into the centre of the defence and Garcia Pimienta has no fresh injury concerns to deal with. However, Akor Adams, Tanguy Nianzou and Albert Sami Lokonga all remain sidelined with various issues. 

Mallorca could be without Samu Costa and Manu Morlanes as they are both suffering with injuries. As a result Arrasate could just name an unchanged team from last weekend, as they put in a good performance in the 3-1 win over Las Palmas. Dani Rodriguez did well in the number 10 role while Robert Navarro and Takuma Asano will continue out wide. Vedat Muriqi scored twice and will hope to continue that good form in this away fixture.

Sevilla vs Mallorca Odds

Sevilla are priced at 11/10 to win this game, but they’ve only won five of their 12 home fixtures to date. They’ve got an implied win probability of 47% while the away side can be backed at 3/1 having won five and lost six on the road so far. A draw is 21/10 and Sevilla have drawn three of their last six contests. 

Over 2.5 goals is 6/4 but has only come in during 10 of Sevilla’s 24 fixtures so far - with BTTS available at 6/5. Dodi Lukebakio is the favourite to score first at 9/2 having racked up 10 goals in 24 La Liga appearances. 

Sevilla to win @ 11/10

I will back the home side to come out on top here, based on the fact that it feels like their season is turning around. They smashed Real Valladolid 4-0 last time out and are now dragging themselves back into contention for a European spot, despite sitting down in 13th. That is how close the middle of the table is in Spain and a couple of wins will take Sevilla right back into contention. 

Having only lost to Barcelona in their last six matches, I believe Sevilla will continue their turnaround in form as they host Mallorca, who have picked up just 15 points on the road so far. The home side were poor last term as they finished 14th, and they will be desperate to improve on that this term, and get back into the top half of the table. I’m going to back them to get another win here.

I’m backing a close encounter but one that should have goals in it. I also think there is massive value when looking at a couple of individual goalscorers, both of whom scored a brace last weekend. Sanchez looks set to start again for Sevilla and he could cause all sorts of problems. His first goal against Valladolid showed his quality as he made a great run through the defensive line before finishing with his left foot.

Those runs from midfield could be key, and his second of the night was a calm finish with his right. He can strike again here, while I’m happy to back Mallorca’s main man Muriqi to find the net. He’s now got six goals to his name and is high on confidence, so let’s combine them for a hefty Bet Builder.
