Looking to maintain their recent upturn in fortunes, Shrewsbury host Huddersfield at The Croud Meadow on Tuesday night in a rearranged League One match (19:45 kick-off).

We've previewed this one and given you our Shrewsbury vs Huddersfield Predictions, as well as all the latest odds, stats and team news.

Shrewsbury vs Huddersfield Betting Tips

  • Both teams to score @ 1/1
  • Shrewsbury to win either half @ 6/4
  • Shrewsbury/Huddersfield HT/FT @ 25/1

The Shrews, who were bottom of the table when Gareth Ainsworth took over in November, have picked up seven points from their last four matches to move within sight of safety.

A fourth home victory in six this week would take them to within a point of Peterborough in 20th place and dent the promotion prospects of the Terriers.

Michael Duff’s men head south after a Yorkshire derby win over Barnsley kept them in the top six, albeit eight points behind Ainsworth’s former club Wycombe in the second automatic spot.

Team news

Attacking midfielder Taylor Perry will be assessed after coming off with a knock at half-time during Shrewsbury’s 3-2 home defeat to Bolton on Saturday but Ainsworth reported no other new issues.

Huddersfield could be unchanged from their 2-1 win at Oakwell with the problems that faced returning midfielder David Kasumu and player of the match Tawanda Chirewa confirmed to be cramps.

Town are still without Matty Pearson (calf), Mickel Miller (knee), Danny Ward (ACL), Nigel Lonwijk (hamstring), Tom Iorpenda (back), Joe Taylor (hamstring), Ruben Roosken (knee), Antony Evans (toe) and Rhys Healey (knee).

Huddersfield are 9/10 favourites to take all three points, while hosts Shrewsbury are available at 100/30 and the draw is priced at 12/5.

Over 2.5 goals is on offer at 6/5, with 4/6 the quote for under 2.5, while it's 1/1 that both teams score in the match and 4/5 that at least one team fails to get on the scoresheet.

Both teams to score @ 1/1

Both teams have scored in 12 of Shrewsbury’s 16 League One matches under Ainsworth, including each of their last four games.

This clash with the Terriers promises to produce goals at both ends again with the visitors having scored and conceded in their last three away league trips.

Shrewsbury to win either half @ 6/4

Shrewsbury played well for the majority of Saturday’s game against Bolton but were overpowered when their energy levels dipped in the second half.

They defied the quality of the opponents they were up against in the first half an hour, dominating possession and creating several good chances.

It was very similar to their opening effort at the Select Car Leasing Stadium against Reading a few days before and will be something Ainsworth will be looking to replicate against the Terriers.

The Shrews have won either the first or second half in five of their last seven league games, including all of the last four, which suggests there is value to be had in them doing the same on Tuesday.

Shrewsbury/Huddersfield HT/FT @ 25/1

Huddersfield have lost at least one half of football in five of their last six league games and on three of those occasions they trailed at half-time.

Stirring comebacks like the one against Barnsley have been keeping Duff’s side in the play-off hunt, with Town’s tally of 28 second-half goals this term among the best in League One circles.

Meanwhile, Shrewsbury have conceded more goals than any other team in the division this season after the interval - a statistic that makes the odds of the visitors coming back from a half-time deficit to win very appealing.
