Blackburn Rovers are in a very uncomfortable position as reports are stating that head coach John Eustace is on the cusp of leaving the Championship play-off contenders for relegation-threatened Derby County. Negotiations are ongoing, but it looks like he is not going to be in the dugout for Rovers' trip to West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday (20:00, Sky Sports+).

The Baggies have just the one home defeat this campaign, and they have won two on the spin at The Hawthorns coming into this contest. Below you will find my West Brom vs Blackburn predictions, aided by the latest team news and match odds.

West Brom vs Blackburn Betting Tips

  • West Brom to win @ 19/20
  • Adam Armstrong anytime goalscorer @ 15/8

West Brom vs Blackburn Odds

West Brom have won four of their last six home games in the Championship, so there is excellent value in backing them to win at 19/20 (which has an implied probability of 51.3%).

Albion have drawn on seven occasions in B71 this term and the stalemate could be tempting at 12/5 (29.4%).

Blackburn have lost their past three away trips in the second tier, and they are 3/1 to come away with the three points on Wednesday.

Both teams to score has been a winning selection in 10 of West Brom's previous 11 outings in the league, and this market is available at 10/11 this time around.

Team News

With Daryl Dike and Josh Maja recovering from Achilles and leg injuries respectively, West Brom have Will Lankshear and former Blackburn man Adam Armstrong to play up front.

Semi Ajayi is working his way back to full fitness from a hamstring problem and he is set to feature in some under-21s matches in preparation for a Championship return.

Albion are starting to flex their strength in depth and Mowbray may opt to restore Mikey Johnston and Tom Fellows to the flanks. Defender Kyle Bartley is out through suspension for violent conduct after the final whistle against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, leaving Mason Holgate and Torbjorn Heggem to man the heart of the defence.

Blackburn are struggling with injuries despite reinforcements arriving in the winter transfer window. Yuki Ohashi, Sondre Tronstad and Hayden Carter have been big misses in recent weeks, but it is hoped that all of them are nearing a return to action.

Attacker Arnor Sigurdsson was left out of Rovers' updated 25-man squad last week, having been plagued with injuries throughout the campaign.

West Brom to win @ 19/20

Blackburn have been punching above their weight this season due to the circumstances of their ownership, and Eustace has done an excellent job in steadying the ship last term, before pushing the club on this campaign.

It's the supporters I feel sorry for in this situation as it leaves them in yet another comfortable position, and you can't blame them for feeling a bit betrayed by Eustace for the timing of his exit.

Blackburn sit sixth in the standings but we have seen them in this position before, last season to be exact. A play-off push quickly turned into a survival scrap.

They have lost five of their past six matches so they travel to the West Midlands devoid of confidence, while West Brom are starting to tick with Mowbray at the helm.

The hosts are in a much healthier state than their opponents coming into Wednesday, and I think they can profit from Eustace's impending exit to put another three points on the board, further cementing their position inside the top six.

Adam Armstrong anytime goalscorer @ 15/8

Former Blackburn striker Armstrong can rub salt in the wound of his old club on Wednesday night. He is off to a flying start for the Baggies, having struck on his debut in the victory against Sheffield Wednesday last time out.

The front man was pivotal in Southampton's promotion to the Premier League in 2023/24, bagging 21 goals and providing 13 assists in the second tier. His arrival has caused envy among Albion's promotion rivals because he can be the difference in such a race.

I'm expecting a deflated Blackburn performance later, and I believe this can open the door for Armstrong to add to his goal tally.
