Burnley vs leeds championship monday 27 january 2025

Leeds United will be determined to make amends for last season's heartache when they finished third despite amassing 90 points before going on to lose the play-off final, and they have the chance to give themselves what could be some valuable breathing room at the top of the Championship table when they visit Burnley on Monday night (20:00, live on Sky Sports Main Event).

Read on for my Burnley vs Leeds United predictions, plus the latest odds and team news.

Burnley vs Leeds United Predictions

  • Leeds to win @ 13/10
  • Manor Solomon to score anytime @ 4/1

Burnley vs Leeds United Odds

Burnley have yet to be beaten at Turf Moor this season but are available at 11/5 for the victory, the same price as the draw. Seven of 13 Championship games at Turf Moor have ended in stalemate. Leeds' away record is not nearly as good as at Elland Road but they are 13/10 favourites to register their seventh road win on Monday.

Unsurprisingly, not too many goals are expected with over 2.5 on offer at 6/4, while at least one clean sheet is priced at 8/11 with both teams to score at 11/10.

Team News

Aaron Ramsey, Enock Agyei and Jordan Beyer remain unavailable for Burnley, while Hannes Delcroix and Hjalmar Ekdal have both left on loan. Nathan Redmond and Manuel Benson are closing in on a return to action but Monday's game may well come too soon.

Leeds will be without defender Pascal Struijk but his hamstring injury is not as bad as first feared and he is expected to return to training in the next week or so. Patrick Bamford is sidelined by a hamstring issue of his own and Daniel Farke is expected to go with a similar squad to that which beat Norwich City 2-0 last time out.

Leeds to win @ 13/10

Burnley have the best defensive record in the Championship with just nine goals conceded in the league so far, so it may seem a brave call to take on Monday's hosts as they bid to keep up their unbeaten home record.

However, it is worth noting that they have won only six times at Turf Moor while being held to seven draws. They are the joint-lowest scorers at home - alongside struggling Hull City - with just 15 goals to their name, five of which came in their home opener in August.

They have failed to score in three of their last four games at home, being held to goalless draws by relegation-threatened Derby and Stoke. Meanwhile, Sunderland missed two penalties in the most recent Turf Moor clash and the hosts were lucky to pick up a point.

Leeds have not been as effective on their travels this season but they are comfortably the top scorers in the Championship and clearly possess plenty of threats in the final third.

Farke's men go into the clash in good heart having registered three successive wins to nil - all at home - and one goal may be enough to win Monday's tussle.

With Sheffield United losing and Sunderland being held at home by Plymouth, this looks a big opportunity for Leeds to put some distance between themselves and the chasing pack, and it's one that they can take full advantage of.

Manor Solomon to score anytime @ 4/1

The goal threats are all over the pitch as far as Leeds are concerned and with the depth of attacking talent in the squad, the competition for places only adds to the desire to make a positive impression.

Manor Solomon is in fine form having bagged in each of the last two games, and he looks a big price to notch again at 4/1 on Monday. The 25-year-old seems to have cemented a place in the side, having started each of the last five games, and he knows he needs to keep producing with Largie Ramazani waiting in the wings.

Solomon has failed to complete four of those five recent matches and will be keen to make a quick impact. Both his recent goals were the first of the game and the 9/1 for a hat-trick of deadlock-breaking goals is also tempting.
