Everton vs tottenham hotspur

David Moyes' Everton homecoming didn't go to plan in midweek, but he has another chance to pick up a crucial three points when the Toffees welcome a struggling Tottenham Hotspur to Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon (14:00, live on Sky Sports Main Event).

The Scot started his second reign in the Everton dugout with a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa on Wednesday night, while Ange Postecoglou's side suffered a 2-1 defeat in the North London derby against Arsenal. Read on for my Everton vs Tottenham Hotspur prediction, as well as the latest team news and match odds.

Team News

Moyes has revealed that Armando Broja could be sent back to parent club Chelsea, after a scan revealed he had suffered ankle ligament damage in Everton’s 2-0 FA Cup third-round triumph over Peterborough United.

Dwight McNeil has been sidelined with a knee injury since the 4-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on December 4, but the former Burnley man could return to the fold here.

As for Spurs, Timo Werner suffered a hamstring injury in the FA Cup win over Tamworth and it remains to be seen how severe the German's problem is. Fraser Forster failed to make the matchday squad in midweek due to illness and he's a doubt for the trip to Merseyside too.

Rodrigo Bentancur suffered a concussion in the Carabao Cup win over Liverpool and he'll return to action after finishing the two-week protocol, meaning that he will sit this one out.

Cristian Romero remains sidelined with a thigh problem, but is reportedly targeting a return at the end of the month, while Guglielmo Vicario continues to recover from an ankle fracture.

Everton vs Tottenham Hotspur Odds

There isn't a great deal to separate the sides, as reflected in the prices, with Everton 15/8 to pick up all three points, or an implied chance of 34.8% Spurs are 6/4 (40%), and the draw is currently priced up at 5/2.

If you fancy both teams to score, that's available at 8/15, while the Toffees are 9/2 to win to nil and Spurs are 4/1 to win and keep a clean sheet.

Under 2.5 goals @ 6/5

As mentioned in the introduction, Moyes' second reign as Toffees manager started in the worst possible way with a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa in front of the Goodison faithful.

Everton are crying out for some inspiration going forward, as they are winless in six Premier League games, and have the second-worst attacking record in the division.

However, their defence has been a source of strength this year, as only the top four have conceded fewer goals than them, with their 20 outings so far yielding just 2.05 goals per game on average.

Spurs are the second-highest scorers in the league, but the majority of their success in front of goal came earlier in the season. Postecoglou's side are on a five-game winless run themselves and will be desperate to end that streak on Sunday afternoon.

Under 2.5 goals has been a winning bet in three of Spurs' last six outings across all competitions, while the same bet has also landed in each of Everton's last seven competitive fixtures.

Under 42.5 booking points @ 1/1

Only Manchester City and Brentford have received fewer bookings than Everton and Spurs this term, suggesting that taking under 42.5 booking points could be the way to go on Sunday.

This bet has landed in Everton's last three encounters in the league, as well as two of Spurs' last three contests in all competitions. This pick was also a winning play in the same fixture at Goodison Park last season.

For those unfamiliar, with Betfred a booking is worth 10 points, and a red card equates to 25 points.
