Kilmarnock vs motherwell

Just six points separate Kilmarnock and Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership table and both will be seeking a victory for very different reasons when they meet at BBSP Stadium Rugby Park on Wednesday (19:45).

Killie are looking nervously over their shoulder after Sunday's 1-0 home loss to Ross County left them just a point and place above the relegation play-off position, while Motherwell are fifth and can move to within a point of fourth-placed Aberdeen with a win in East Ayrshire. Read on for my Kilmarnock vs Motherwell prediction, as well as the latest team news and match odds.

Team News

Kilmarnock forward Innes Cameron was forced off inside the opening five minutes of Sunday's loss to Ross County and is expected to be sidelined for this one, along with captain Kyle Vassell (shin) and long-term absentee Stuart Findlay (ankle). Matty Kennedy is doubtful with a back issue.

Motherwell forward Apostolos Stamatelopolous remains a doubt with a muscle strain, while Lennon Miller, Steve Seddon, Ross Callachan and Zach Robinson are all still sidelined.

Kilmarnock vs Motherwell Odds

Kilmarnock are the 19/20 favourites to pick up all three points on home soil, with Motherwell priced at 3/1 and the draw 13/5.

It is 8/11 for both teams to find the back of the net, while Kilmarnock's Bruce Anderson, who has eight league goals to his name this season, is the 5/1 favourite to open the scoring.

Draw @ 13/5

This will be the second meeting between these two sides in less than three weeks and there was nothing to separate them when they locked horns at Fir Park just before Christmas, as they played out a 1-1 draw.

It also finished all-square when they met in the league back in February, while it was goalless after 90 minutes in August's Scottish League Cup second-round clash, with Motherwell edging that one in extra time thanks to Moses Ebiye's goal.

Across the last nine head-to-heads, eight have been decided by no more than a one-goal margin, with four finishing level, so with two evenly-matched sides set to lock horns this one could also end in parity.

Kilmarnock to receive a red card @ 7/1

Kilmarnock have received a staggering seven red cards in the Scottish Premiership this season, three more than any other team, with defender Joe Wright and Northern Ireland international Liam Donnelly picking up two each.

Derek McInnes also saw his side reduced to 10 men during August's cup meeting with Motherwell - the now injured Findlay being given his marching orders that day.

Killie did keep 11 men on the field during last month's league clash between the two sides, although they did have five players booked in a feisty game that also saw Motherwell defender Dan Casey receive a straight red card.

With scores to perhaps settle and an unhelpful knack for picking up red cards this season, it could be worth taking a chance on a Kilmarnock player being sent off in this game.
