Ross County vs Rangers Prediction: Expect more goals as the Staggies host the Gers

The Scottish Premiership action continues on Sunday at noon as Ross County host Rangers in Dingwall in a match you can follow live on Sky Sports. The locals set up on the back of a poor run of form after winning just one of their last five. Rangers arrive following the destruction of Kilmarnock at Ibrox.
Sunday’s match will be the second time these sides have met this season, following a landslide with for Philippe Clement’s Gers at Hampden back in the summer. Will they do the double? Keep reading for Betfred’s Frank Monkhouse Ross County vs Rangers Predictions as he aims to provide followers with more winners after backing Rangers on the handicap in midweek...

Ross County enjoy the home advantage in Sunday’s game, but everyone connected to the Staggies knows the team must improve and fast. They were thrashed 6-0 at the national stadium by Sunday’s opponents and start in the bottom six after taking just five of the last 15 Premiership points available. Stopping the rot against Rangers won’t be easy, especially as their guests arrive in great form.
The Rangers fans who made it along to a wet and windy Ibrox on Wednesday were rewarded with free-flowing and high-scoring football.
Clement’s team led 1-0 at the break before pulling clear in the second half to hammer Killie 6-0 on a miserable night for Derek McInnes and his men. It was a great showing by an under-pressure team, but they must now build on that and find the consistency needed to catch Aberdeen in second place.
Don Cowie’s men may be the home team for this early kick-off and scored a 3-2 win in this fixture when Rangers were last in town, but they enter Sunday’s renewal as the underdogs.
The Staggies have lost two of their previous three in the Premiership, suffering a 3-0 defeat at Tannadice before beating Motherwell 2-1 here and ending November on the wrong side of a 5-0 scoreline at Celtic Park. The home win is 12/1 (8% probability) at Betfred.
Rangers arrive unbeaten in four Premiership outings, winning three and drawing the spare at home to Dundee United. They fought back from a goal down to rescue a point in the spare but gave fans more to smile about in wins over Nice, Hearts, and Motherwell last month.
Sunday will be the Gers’ third game of December after beating St Johnstone 1-0 at McDiarmid Park and Kilmarnock 6-0 in Govan on Wednesday. The away win is 2/9 (82%), with a draw trading at 5/1 (17%).
Over 2.5 goals
Rangers boosted their scoring stats with that huge midweek win, but they’ve struggled for goals on the road domestically. Sunday will be another tough game, but we saw signs of improvement at Ibrox four days ago, and the visitors can build on those solid foundations.
The visitors' aren’t yet at full strength, but several important players are back in contention, and there seems to be confidence in the squad again.
Driven by the return of Ianis Hagi and the breakthrough of young attacker Hamza Igamane, the Gers may be finally finding their feet after an unconvincing start to the season.
If they can put a run of wins together during a hectic festive season, they can get back into second place above the Dons. Backing over 2.5 goals in this fixture would’ve returned a profit in each of the last three renewals, and we’re happy to back more of the same.

Both score and Rangers win
The Rangers' defence is improving. They have kept a clean sheet in each of their previous two games this month. Goalkeeper Jack Butland barely had a save to make on Wednesday, thanks to the efforts of John Souttar, Leon Balogun, and a hard-working midfield.
Although the defence is improving, manager Clement continues to change his back four, much to the annoyance of many fans. Ross County scored four goals in their three meetings with Rangers last season, and they can get at least one more here. Back both teams to score in a Rangers win at decent odds.
