Manchester United welcome Everton to Old Trafford as Ruben Amorim takes charge of his first Premier League home match on Sunday (13:30). His side earned a point last time out at Ipswich Town, before beating Bodo/Glimt 3-2 in the Europa League on Thursday.

Everton head here having drawn three of their last four matches, including two that were goalless. They could make life difficult for the Red Devils. Read on for my Manchester United vs Everton prediction, including the latest match odds and team news.

Manchester United vs Everton Betting Tips

  • Man United to win 1-0 @ 6/1
  • Under 2.5 goals @ 11/10

Manchester United vs Everton Odds

Man United are 4/7 to win this fixture, which gives them a theoretical chance of 63.6%. Everton are priced at 5/1 to come away with the three points, giving them an implied probability of 16.7%. The draw is on offer at 100/30 (23.1%).

Both teams to score can be backed at 4/5 and over 2.5 goals is marketed at 4/6.

United's Rasmus Hojlund is the favourite to score anytime on Sunday at 8/5, and he is followed by teammates Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee, who are both 7/4 to find the back of the net.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin leads the way for the visitors at 3/1.

Team News

Amorim's injury concerns remain at centre-back with Jonny Evans, Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro and Victor Lindelof all doubts to be involved at the weekend due to injury.

Noussair Mazraoui could be deployed as a right-sided centre-back once again as United's defensive options remain limited. Left-backs Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw are back in the squad after their own injury troubles, and the latter could be given the nod to start as a wing-back against the Toffees.

Midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has been struggling for fitness of late, but it was believed he was being saved for Everton, so we could see him feature here. After scoring a brace in midweek, Hojlund could keep his spot as the centre-forward and he'll likely be supported by Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho.

For Everton, former United man James Garner is out with a back problem, while Tim Iroegbunam, Seamus Coleman and Youssef Chermiti are also in the treatment room.

Forward Armando Broja is in contention to feature at Old Trafford, but it's unlikely he'll move above Calvert-Lewin or Beto in the pecking order.

Sean Dyche will continue with Jordan Pickford in goal, and the England international will be protected by Vitaliy Mykolenko, Jarrad Branthwaite, James Tarkowski and Ashley Young.

Abdoulaye Doucoure and Idrissa Gana Gueye should operate in the engine room once more, while we could see Jesper Lindstrom, Dwight McNeil and Iliman Ndiaye operate behind Calvert-Lewin.

Man United to win 1-0 @ 6/1

It's still early days for United under Amorim, and it is going to take a while before we see them operating like his Sporting CP side, but that doesn't mean they can't generate results until then.

In his first two matches the Portuguese coach has picked up a draw and a win. He will look to keep his unbeaten start going against Everton, but he will be wary of their defensive strength in recent weeks.

Dyche will be hoping that his side can inflict a first defeat on the new United boss, and their defensive stats from their latest matches would suggest they can make this contest competitive.

It's their offensive output that tends to let them down. Striker Calvert-Lewin continues to get the nod up top despite blanking for eight consecutive matches in the top flight.

United don't seem to have this problem. Hojlund netted a brace on Thursday, while Garnacho also got in on the action, and he has three goals in the league already this term. These two players can make a huge impact on the game at Old Trafford, and I could see one of them being the match-winner in a 1-0 scoreline.

I think backing the hosts to win by this margin offers good value because I think the Toffees will prevent them with a tough test given how well their defence has been performing of late.

United's attackers will have to be patient but also creative as they try and unlock a stubborn back line. They have the individual quality to do so, so I fancy this prediction to land on Sunday.

Under 2.5 goals @ 11/10

I also like the look of under 2.5 goals because of how organised Everton's back line has shown to be in several of their matches this term. There have been less than three goals scored in seven of their 12 Premier League fixtures so far, with under 2.5 goals delivering in four of their six away games to date.

This appears to be the strategy for Dyche's side on the road. Keep things tight and hopefully have a couple of attacking moments to try and snatch points. They've only managed one win on the road so far, so there is work to be done to make them more of a threat away from Goodison Park.

But their defensive structure and current performances are ensuring that they are still in contests, and I think this will be the case against United, who are still finding their way under their new boss and system.
