Football Bet of the Day: Arsenal can run riot against Juve

My focus for Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day takes us to the Uefa Women’s Champions League and the Emirates Stadium, as Arsenal Women play host to Juventus Women in north London (20:00, DAZN).

Since a dip in form in October, Arsenal have responded with a superb run of results, winning five of their last six games in all competitions and drawing the other. Looking strong at the back while in free-scoring form in the final third, there is plenty to like about this Arsenal side as they prepare for another showdown with Juventus in the Women’s Champions League.

The Gunners earned a 4-0 win when they faced Juve at the Stadio Comunale Vittorio Pozzo Lamarmora and another high-scoring affair might well be on the cards on Thursday night in the capital.

Since going three games without a win in October, the Gunners have been firing on all cylinders in recent weeks.

A goalless draw against Everton was followed by back-to-back defeats to Bayern Munich and Chelsea in the Champions League and WSL respectively, but Arsenal have come out of their dip in form in superb fashion.

Beating Norwegian outfit Valerenga 4-1 after that setback against Chelsea, the Gunners have not looked back.

Wins to nil against West Ham, Brighton, Juventus and rivals Tottenham Hotspur, while drawing at Manchester United, interim head coach Renee Slegers will be delighted with how her side are playing following the departure of former boss Jonas Eidevall last month.

In this six-game unbeaten run, the Gunners have scored 19 goals while conceding just two in that time.

It was on November 12 when Arsenal last took on Juventus at the Stadio Comunale Vittorio Pozzo Lamarmora and ran out 4-0 winners thanks to goals from Frida Maanum, Stina Blackstenius, Mariona Caldentey and Caitlin Foord.

Back in the home comforts of the Emirates and backed by what should be a big crowd, Arsenal will look to put Juve to the sword once again this week.

Juventus have been dominant in Serie A this season with 26 points from their first 10 games and leading second-place Fiorentina by four points.

However, the step up to Champions League football has been tough for the Turin outfit, losing their last two games against Bayern Munich and Arsenal without scoring a single goal.

Another difficult night looks to be on the cards for boss Massimiliano Canzi and his side when they head to north London.

The Gunners have been ruthless in the final third in their current unbeaten run and if they can put four past Juve in Italy, a strong start should see them score even more back in London.

With that in mind, and with the firepower in attack at Slegers’ disposal, over 4.5 total goals in the game at 13/8 gets the nod for Thursday’s Football Bet of the Day.
