Czech Republic vs Georgia Prediction: Away side could land big win

Czech Republic currently sit top of League B Group 1 and they know that a win at home against Georgia will see them promoted to the top tier of the Nations League. All four teams in this group are separated by just three points and Georgia know that an away win could see them top the group and get promoted. 

These two meet at the Andruv stadion in Olomouc on Tuesday night, with kick-off at 19:45. Below you can find my Czech Republic vs Georgia predictions featuring betting tips and team news.  

Team News

Tomas Chory is set to lead the line again for the home side given Patrik Schick remains out of the squad. The star striker has a minor injury and is recovering in Germany, although this conveniently comes as there are local reports suggesting he has fallen out with head coach Ivan Hasek. 

Hasek is doing quite well as it stands, with the likes of Adam Hlozek, Ondrej Lingr and Lukas Provod also trying to nail down a place in the front three. They kept a clean sheet last time out so I wouldn’t expect too many changes at the back, with Matej Kovar set to start in goal again. Vaclav Jemelka and Tomas Holes will start at centre-back with Vladimir Coufal settled at right-back. Tomas Soucek will be another familiar face to Premier League fans and he will provide a major goal threat from set-pieces.

Georgia should bring Georges Mikautadze back into the starting XI after he was named as a substitute vs Ukraine, with Georgia’s top scorer at Euro 2024 finding the equaliser in that 1-1 draw. Meanwhile, Giorgi Mamardashvili will start in goal again ahead of his move to Liverpool, with Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia the star of the show. Giorgi Chakvetadze is having a wonderful season at Watford and should be able to produce in an attacking role once again.

Czech Republic are priced at 8/11 to win this game, giving them an implied win probability of 57%. Meanwhile Georgia are priced at 18/5, a draw is 11/4 and over 2.5 goals is 5/6. BTTS is 4/5, and Jan Kuchta is the favourite to open the scoring at 11/2.

Now I’m keen to back the away side to come out on top here as I think they offer excellent value in comparison to the Czech Republic. When these two teams met in the reverse fixture, Georgia took the Czech Republic to the cleaners, beating them 4-1 with a stunning second half performance. Willy Sagnol is a decent tactician and Georgia have a huge amount of talent, especially in attacking areas. 

Mikautadze, Chakvetadze and Kvaratskhelia are three incredible forward players and to be honest I don’t believe the Czech Republic have the same amount of quality in their squad. Now Hasek has done well at home, winning two from two in the Nations League so far, but I still don’t believe they should be as short as 8/11 to win this game. I’m happy to go for Georgia in this one. 

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to score first @ 8/1

Given I think Georgia can win this game, I will pick out one of their forwards to score first. It makes sense in my eyes to pick out their star man, Napoli’s Kvaratskhelia has been in fine fettle for his club once again, scoring five Serie A goals in 12 appearances so far this season for the club that currently sit top of the tree in Italy. 

He is given a free role for Georgia and I think he will cause the Czech Republic a lot of problems, having already scored against them in the Nations League. That 4-1 demolition should give Georgia a lot of confidence heading into this rematch and I believe that Kvaratskhelia can get the away side off to a perfect start at fairly long odds.
