Team News
Tottenham named a strong starting XI for their midweek Carabao Cup victory over Manchester City, with Guglielmo Vicario, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Dejan Kulusevski, Brennan Johnson and Dominic Solanke all keeping their places from last Sunday's 1-0 defeat at Crystal Palace. Five of those are expected to retain their spots on Sunday, but Van de Ven has been ruled out after sustaining an injury that saw him substituted in the 14th minute on Wednesday.
Destiny Udogie came on for the Dutchman and will return at left-back against Villa, meaning Radu Dragusin will partner Romero at centre-back again.
Pedro Porro, Yves Bissouma and James Maddison will all hope to be restored to the starting XI, too, while Ange Postecoglou is hopeful Son Heung-min can be involved after the Spurs skipper missed his side's last three matches.
Aston Villa only have one player, Ross Barkley, out injured for the trip to north London. The Everton Academy graduate only has a "small injury" according to head coach Unai Emery, but it will keep him out of action for the next two weeks at least.
Emery is something of a deity at Villa Park after orchestrating a top-four finish last season, but the Spaniard received criticism on Wednesday for not naming the likes of Ollie Watkins or Morgan Rogers in the squad for their 2-1 Carabao Cup defeat to Crystal Palace. John McGinn was the only player to keep his place from last weekend's 1-1 draw with AFC Bournemouth, with the likes of Tyrone Mings, Boubacar Kamara, Ian Maatsen, Leon Bailey and Jhon Duran all handed an opportunity to impress.
The starting XI wasn't an issue for Villa supporters, but naming such an inexperienced bench - and refusing to bring on the only two first-teamers in Jacob Ramsey and Matty Cash - saw Emery come under fire from fans.
Emery is likely to revert to a more familiar lineup on Sunday, with Emiliano Martinez back between the sticks, Pau Torres and Ezri Konsa at the back, Amadou Onana and Youri Tielemans in midfield, and Watkins and Rogers up top.

Tottenham are 19/20 to exact their revenge for last November's 2-1 loss to Villa at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, giving the hosts an implied win probability of 51.3%. Aston Villa, meanwhile, are 13/5, or a 27.8% chance, to triumph for a third-straight game at the ground, while a draw is priced at 3/1.
Both teams to score is available at 2/5 and over 3.5 total goals at 1/1.
Spurs pair Richarlison and Solanke (both 6/4) head the anytime goalscorer market, followed by Son (8/5) and Villa's main man Watkins (13/8).
Double Chance & Both Teams to Score - Draw or Aston Villa & Yes @ 7/5
Both teams to score has been a winner in 78 per cent (seven) of Aston Villa's nine Premier League games this season, and in 56 per cent (five) of Tottenham's, while both sides saw at least a goal on either side in their respective Carabao Cup contests on Wednesday, keeping up their 100 per cent BTTS - Yes records in the competition.
Villa were way off the pace in a 4-0 Villa Park defeat to Spurs in March but that came after a midweek European game, whereas their best players should be fresh this time around.
Prior to that result, Villa had won the last two head-to-heads 2-1, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last November and in Birmingham in May 2023.
Spurs have performed impressively at home this season, winning six of their seven games in N17 across all competitions. However, in their biggest test, they lost 1-0 to north London rivals Arsenal, and Villa should provide a similarly tough examination of their credentials on Sunday.
Villa should be extra motivated to achieve a positive result this weekend after conceding an equaliser to Bournemouth in the sixth minute of second-half stoppage time last week, and that was followed up in midweek by their second string losing in the cup to Palace.
The Villans have only lost once in the league this season, 2-0 at home to Arsenal on August 24, and they've won three of their four road matches, beating West Ham United (2-1), Leicester City (2-1) and Fulham (3-1). Their only stalemate, meanwhile, was a 2-2 draw at Ipswich Town.
The double chance result on Villa and both teams to score has been a winner in all four of their away matches and I'm backing a fifth on Sunday at 7/5.

Anytime Goalscorer - Ollie Watkins (AVL) @ 13/8
Colombian striker Duran continues to pile the pressure on Watkins, scoring again in midweek, but the England international keeps on delivering in the Premier League, particularly away from home where he has scored his last two goals, in the 2-2 draw with Ipswich at Portman Road and the 3-1 win against Fulham at Craven Cottage in Villa's last road game.
Watkins is set to return to the starting XI at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where he found the net in Villa's win last season.
The 28-year-old has played Spurs eight times in his career, netting three goals, and all three strikes have come in north London.
At 13/8, Watkins is a fair price to bag again on the weekend.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
