Next Manchester United Manager Odds: United legend favourite to replace Ten Hag

Erik ten Hag's two-and-a-half-year spell as Manchester United manager has ended after a poor start to the campaign, with the Red Devils currently languishing in 14th place in the Premier League standings - their worst top-flight position since 1990.
Who will be the man to take over the reins at Old Trafford? We've taken a look at the next Manchester United manager odds below.
Next Manchester United Manager Odds
Ruud van Nistelrooy @ 4/7
The current favourite is former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy.
The former number 10 was appointed as assistant manager in the summer and has been tasked with steadying the ship as interim head coach in the immediate wake of Ten Hag's departure.
Van Nistelrooy does bring managerial experience of his own to the role - he won the Johan Cruyff Shield and KNVB Cup in 2022/23 as PSV Eindhoven head coach, finishing second in the Eredivisie, seven points behind Feyenoord.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer enjoyed a successful period as interim boss, winning 14 of his 19 in charge, which saw him offered the permanent position - could it happen again?

Xavi Hernandez @ 7/2
The former Barcelona midfielder has emerged as a strong candidate to take over at Old Trafford in the past couple of days. One thing that works in Xavi's favour is that he's currently without a club and could start almost immediately.
Xavi won the La Liga title with his beloved Barca back in 202/23 before things started to sour, but after some time away from the game, he may be ready for a fresh challenge.
Interestingly, the Spanish maestro made his Champions League debut at Old Trafford against United in 1998!

Ruben Amorim @ 6/1
The current Sporting Lisbon boss is among the names being considered for the top job at the Theatre of Dreams.
The 39-year-old has become one of the most highly-rated coaches in Europe and was heavily linked with the Liverpool job last summer before Arne Slot was announced as Jurgen Klopp's successor.
Amorim has received plaudits for his work in restoring Lisbon as the top dogs in Portuguese football. United may be reluctant to approach the Portuguese coach mid-season due to potential compensation fees, but he's certainly a name to keep an eye on.

Julian Nagelsmann @ 6/1
Nagelsmann is currently the Germany manager, but nevertheless, he's another name in the frame for the hot seat at Old Trafford.
The 37-year-old is considered one of the best coaches in Europe, having previously worked at Bayern Munich, winning the Bundesliga in 2021/22, as well as two DFL-Supercups in that time.
It seems unlikely that Nagelsmann would join mid-season, but he remains on United's radar.

Thomas Frank @ 8/1
Thomas Frank is highly-respected for his work at Brentford and consolidating their position in the top flight.
He's been linked with many top jobs over the years, and no doubt it would take a few quid to lure him to Old Trafford. However, should Ineos want to pursue a manager who has Premier League experience, then Frank ticks that box.

Gareth Southgate @ 8/1
The former England manager is a name that has been repeatedly linked with the managerial job at United ever since Ineos took over.
Southgate led England to back-to-back European Championship finals, as well as a World Cup semi-final before stepping down, however the 54-year-old appears to be in no rush regarding a return to coaching, stating that he won't be a coach within the "next year" at the European Club Association general assembly in Athens earlier this month.
