Wolves came so close to drawing at home to Manchester City last weekend, but John Stones' late winner robbed them of only their second point of this Premier League season. The division’s bottom club will try and earn their first win when they travel to Brighton on Saturday afternoon, with kick-off at 15:00.

It marks a big game for Wolves and Gary O’Neil, and he will surely come under severe pressure if they lose this one. Rock-bottom, they are desperately in need of three points. Below you can find my Brighton vs Wolves prediction, with team news and betting tips included.

Brighton vs Wolves Betting Tips

  • Brighton to win @ 4/7
  • Georginio Rutter to score anytime @ 23/10

Team News

Georgino Rutter was passed fit to play in the win at St James’ Park at the weekend, and he is expected to feature again for the Seagulls. Both James Milner and Solly March missed out on the matchday squad but are close to a return, with the latter having been sidelined for almost a year.

Meanwhile, Matt O'Riley, the £30m recruit from Scottish champions Celtic, remains on the treatment table. Yasin Ayari made his second Premier League start in the north-east, and has emerged a decent option for Fabian Hurzeler this term, but Jan Paul van Hecke, Joao Pedro and Simon Adingra are still sidelined. All eyes will be on Danny Welbeck after he was withdrawn against Newcastle and has been sent for a scan on his knee.

Wolves are likely to still be without Hwang Hee-chan after he was injured over the international break, while the list of players in the treatment room is still quite extensive. Yerson Mosquera, Sasa Kalajdzic, Enso Gonzalez and Boubacar Traore all remain out, but Jorgen Strand Larsen and Matheus Cunha should continue up front, after the Norwegian bagged the opener against Man City last time out.

Brighton vs Wolves Odds

Brighton are priced at 4/7 giving them an implied win probability of 63%, while Wolves are available at 4/1 for the win. A draw can be backed at 16/5, over 2.5 goals is 8/15 and BTTS is also 8/13.

Brighton to win @ 4/7

I simply have to get behind the home side heading into this game. I don’t think Wolves are as bad as their results suggest, and I would trust O’Neil to turn things around, but Brighton are a class outfit. They’ve only lost one league game this term and that was away at Chelsea, while they’ve already beaten Tottenham, Newcastle and Manchester United in 2024/25.

They are, in my eyes, going to challenge for the top four this season and Hurzeler deserves massive credit for the work he has done since arriving. With so many attacking options and Rutter now impressing the Brighton faithful, I think they will have too much for a Wolves squad that is lacking confidence right now.

Georginio Rutter to score anytime @ 23/10

Now I would have liked to pick Welbeck to score here as the former Manchester United forward appears to be getting better with age. He’s got five goals in eight matches so far this season but was taken off with an injury against Newcastle, and he may miss out here once the results of his scan are back.

Instead, I’m going to back Rutter to find the net instead. He will have to step up to the plate if Welbeck is indeed ruled out, and he is now slotting into this team nicely. After a slow start he has now recorded two goals and one assist in his last three games, and I’d expect him to contribute again here against a team that has conceded a whopping 23 goals so far. That’s the worst defensive record in the Premier League in 2024/25 and Rutter can take full advantage.
