Tim Walter’s Hull City are an interesting proposition right now. They are sitting in 14th and seem to beat the poor teams and lose to the stronger teams in the Championship this term. Worryingly for them, second-placed Burnley come to town on Wednesday (19:45, Sky Sports+) and they are on fire at the moment.

With Scott Parker at the helm, Burnley seem well set to challenge for the top six this term, with aspirations of making it straight back to the Premier League at the first time of asking. Below you will find my Hull vs Burnley prediction, featuring team news and betting tips, as these two meet at the MKM Stadium.

Hull vs Burnley Betting Tips

  • Burnley to win to nil @ 100/30
  • Zian Flemming to score first @ 13/2

Team News

Steven Alzate remains out for the hosts with a calf issue, while Ryan Longman is also out with a long-term injury to his shoulder. Carl Rushworth is on the sidelines until 2025 with an ankle injury so Ivor Pandur will continue in goal.

Liam Millar, Kasey Palmer and Regan Slater are surely close to breaking into the XI after a distinct lack of goals in the last two games. Walter needs some creativity so perhaps Ryan Giles will be called up to play at left-back and whip crosses in, with Cody Drameh potentially switching to right-back.

Burnley are without Manuel Benson, Jordan Beyer, Hannes Delcroix and Hjalmar Ekdal at the moment, with Lyle Foster currently sidelined with a knee issue he picked up on international duty. On a positive note, Mike Tresor could soon be back in the squad as he returns to training and Parker will be happy with how his side are currently performing.

Zian Flemming led the line at Hillsborough last time out and could do so again here, with Jaidon Anthony and Luca Koleosho providing excellent attacking threat from wide positions. Given Hull seem to struggle to defend pacy counter attacks, that trio could have a field day at the MKM.

Hull vs Burnley Odds

Hull are priced at 13/8 to win this game, with Burnley available at 7/4. A draw can be backed at 9/4, over 2.5 goals is 1/1 and BTTS is 8/11. Flemming is one of several players that are favourite to open the scoring at 13/2.

Burnley to win to nil @ 100/30

Burnley have been rock-solid at the back lately, and it’s help them climb the table at breakneck speed. They’ve now kept four clean sheets on the bounce and conceded just one goal in their last six outings, a remarkable record that Parker deserves credit for. There’s a lot of talent in their back line and it is marshalled by arguably the best defender in the division in Maxime Esteve.

Alongside CJ Egan-Riley, those two make up a mean centre-back pairing, with James Trafford doing excellently behind them. Hull have failed to score against Sunderland and Norwich in their last two league matches, and I’d put Burnley up there with those two sides chasing promotion. Able to hit on the counter-attack with pace, I’ve got the away side to win to nil as my first selection for this Wednesday night fixture.

Zian Flemming to score first @ 13/2

Flemming’s move from Millwall hasn’t quite worked out so far, with injury ruling him out of the first part of the season. Burnley will want to see more given this is a loan deal with an obligation to buy, and Flemming made only his second start last time out at Hillsborough.

He led the line well, getting an assist, while the full 90 minutes he was given by Scott Parker is in my mind a vote of confidence for the Dutchman. I think he will start once again here, and a man of his talent should be able to find the net against what is a frail Hull defence at the moment. Flemming should prove to be a good signing for Burnley, and I think he’ll get up and running on Wednesday night.
