Wycombe Wanderers will look to keep their unbeaten run going in League 1 this Saturday (12:30, Sky Sports+) when they host Peterborough United at Adams Park. The Chairboys have avoided defeat in their last seven league matches and they have won five in that run.

The visitors have won just one of their last five but they showed fight to come from 3-1 down to salvage a point at home to Rotherham United last weekend. Read on for my Wycombe vs Peterborough prediction, including match odds and team news.

Wycombe vs Peterborough Betting Tips

  • Wycombe and both teams to score @ 23/10
  • Kwame Poku anytime goalscorer @ 21/10

Wycombe vs Peterborough Odds

Wycombe are 1/1, or a 50% chance, to take the three points here. A Peterborough win is valued at 5/2, giving them an implied probability of 28.6%. The draw can be backed at 11/4 (26.7%)

Both teams to score is marketed at 8/15 and over 2.5 goals is available at 4/7.

Posh's Kwame Poku is the joint-leading marksman in the division with six goals. He is 7/1 to open proceedings on Saturday, or 21/10 to score anytime. His teammate Malik Mothersille has three for himself and he is also priced at 12/5 to find the back of the net at any stage during the contest.

Team News

Wycombe have no fresh injury concerns heading into the weekend as they look to continue with their impressive form.

For Peterborough, they are missing a few players due to injury, with the most notable being Hector Kyprianou, who has been out of action after going off against Wigan at the start of the month.

Jadel Katongo is not expected back until around Christmas due to the hamstring problem he picked up last month against Birmingham City last month. Mahamadou Suhoso and Rio Adebisi also remain in the treatment room.

Darren Ferguson revealed a few weeks ago that midfielder Joel Randall was unhappy at the club despite recently signing a new three-year contract in August. Randall has since returned to the side, starting against Rotherham last week, and the fans showed they are still behind him by singing his name. He is expected to start again in Buckinghamshire.

Life in the hot seat started slowly for Matt Bloomfield, a legendary player for the Chairboys. There was a point last season where some fans were wanting him removed because results weren't forthcoming.

Then all of a sudden, something changed, and they started improving and picking up results on a consistent basis. They ended the season as one of the form teams, and as such I pegged them down as one of the dark horses to finish in the top six this season, alongside Lincoln City.

The Chairboys are unbeaten since their defeat at home to league leaders Birmingham City in the second game of the season. They have mustered a lot of momentum in the last couple of months and I think they are good value to win this match with Peterborough.

Wycombe have won the rest of their matches at home and they will be confident when they return to Adams Park this weekend.

Posh did well to salvage a draw at home to Rotherham last time out after being 3-1 down, but we are not quite seeing the same outfit that has been consistently one of the best sides in the third tier.

They lost key players over the summer which have dented their hopes, and their inconsistent form makes them hard to back this term.

Peterborough do have good players in attack still, who can cause problems for the hosts, but I'm going to have to back Wycombe to come away with the victory here. I've added both teams to score because it has been a winning selection in seven of the Chairboys' nine matches in League 1 this season.

Kwame Poku anytime goalscorer @ 21/10

As the joint-leading marksman in the third tier this term, Poku will likely play a big part in Buckinghamshire on Saturday. I may be of the persuasion that Peterborough don't have what it takes to beat Wycombe in their own backyard, but I am confident that they will get on the scoresheet.

He's the most likely player on the pitch to score here because of how clinical he has been in front of goal this year. It's also worth noting that three of his six goals in the league have come on the road, so he's very much a player who can have an impact in any given setting.

Posh have scored in three of their four away games in the league so far this season, so I believe this trend will continue this weekend. Poku is their best candidate to make that happen, and I think he's worth backing to add to his tally, further marketing himself to teams higher up the Football League.
