Bosnia and Herzegovina take on Hungary in the Uefa Nations League on Monday (19:45, YouTube) in Zenica, as they seek their first win of the tournament. They were beaten 2-1 by Germany last time out but will look for a response here.

Hungary earned a 1-1 draw with the Netherlands on their last outing and they too are yet to win in the Nations League. In the reverse meeting between these two sides last month they played out a goalless draw. Read on for my Bosnia vs Hungary prediction, featuring match odds and team news.

Bosnia vs Hungary Betting Tips

  • Both teams to score @ 5/6
  • Bet Builder - Edin Dzeko and Barnabas Varga to score anytime @ 7/1

Bosnia vs Hungary Odds

Bosnia are 13/5, or a 27.8% chance, to win this fixture. Hungary are priced at 11/10 to take the three points, giving them an implied probability of 47.6%. The draw can be backed at 23/10 (30.3%).

Over 2.5 goals is marketed at 11/10 and both teams to score is on offer at 5/6.

Bosnia striker Edin Dzeko has scored two goals in the Nations League so far and he is 13/2 to open the scoring on Monday, or 12/5 to score anytime.

Team News

Bosnia will be without duo Adrian Leon Barisic and Ermedin Demirovic, with the pair set to serve one-game suspensions for picking up two yellow cards already. Barisic should be replaced by Stjepan Radeljic in defence, while Haris Tabakovic could fill in for Demirovic in attack alongside veteran Dzeko.

After coming on to play the second half against Germany last time out, midfielder Benjamin Tahirovic will be pushing to start against Hungary.

The visitors are missing trio Loic Nego, Milos Kerkez and Krisztofer Horvath as they all pulled out of the squad through injury. Endre Botka played the second half against the Netherlands on Friday, and he could be in line to come into the starting lineup on Monday.

Barnabas Varga should continue in attack, supported by captain and Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai and Roland Sallai, the man who scored against the Dutch.

Both teams to score @ 5/6

These two may have played out a dull 0-0 draw last month but I think we could have a few goals in store this time around. Both sides are needing to show vast improvements if they are hoping to make it to the Nations League finals and this match provides them with their best chance to put three points on the board.

Bosnia didn't see much of the ball in their defeat to Germany last time out but they made sure they were effective when they did have it. Dzeko's goal may have been a consolation but it gave them hope they could salvage a draw in the final 20 minutes.

Both teams have scored in two of their three Nations League appearances so far and I can see it landing in their next fixture to continue the trend. BTTS was also a winning selection in Hungary's last appearance against the Netherland which should bode well for Monday's contest.

These two have conceded a number of goals between them so far with the hosts seeing seven go past them, while the visitors have let in six. Both defences are fragile and the two sets of attackers will be looking to capitalise on each other's weaknesses.

Therefore, I believe both teams to score is worth backing in this match.

Bet Builder - Edin Dzeko and Barnabas Varga to score anytime @ 7/1

I have gone creative for my second selection and I have opted to put together a 7/1 builder. I like the look of the main men for each side getting on the scoresheet in a crunch clash.

Dzeko is showing that age is just a number as he continues to shine on the international stage at the age of 38. He already has two goals in this tournament already, with his latest coming three days ago. He will be feeling good ahead of this crucial encounter against Hungary as it can make or break their campaign.

Plying his trade in the Turkish Super Lig with Fenerbahce now, the former Manchester City, Roma and Inter Milan striker has scored five goals in seven league appearances this season.

He is a leader to Bosnia and I think he can step up in this match to help his side try and keep their Nations League hopes alive.

Then there is Hungary's Varga, who was in great form heading into Euro 2024 over the summer before suffering a freak injury in one of the matches. The Ferencvaros striker has already scored two goals in five league appearances this season, as well as two in four in the Europa League.

He is yet to get off the mark in the Nations League but I think Monday will provide him with a good opportunity because the hosts are equally as vulnerable at the back.
