Football Bet of the Day: Como can deliver goals on Sunday

Sunday’s football action sees a couple of key Premier League games, one Championship clash in south Wales and a smattering of fixtures across Europe. And just like me at a hotel breakfast buffet, it is the continental option that has caught my eye this Sunday. For our Football Bet of the Day for Sunday, September 29, we head to Italy.
Football Bet of the Day - Sunday, September 29
- Como to score over 2.5 goals @ 4/1
There’s a lot to love about Como. The beautiful lake, the gorgeous towns that pepper the shore, and with a bit of luck, a healthy dose of sunshine that bakes the northern part of Italy over the summer months. It’s no wonder that Cesc Fabregas decided this is where he wanted to launch his managerial career.
The popular Spanish midfielder has done well at Como so far, helping them to promotion from Serie B as assistant manager last season, before getting the main gig this summer. Survival is the only aim for this small club as despite their new-found riches, they are still fighting above their weight in Serie A.
The games at their home, the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia on the shoreline of the famous lake, will be absolutely crucial to their survival. This Sunday, they welcome Hellas Verona in a game they will be targeting for three points. Fabregas’ outfit have only won one of their five league matches so far, showing the size of the task at hand, but their performances have improved culminating in a phenomenal 3-2 win over Atalanta last time out.
Como have some familiar faces in their XI, with former Liverpool left-back Alberto Moreno, Patrick Cutrone and former Barcelona man Sergi Roberto all in the team right now. That talent, combined with young stars such as Nico Paz should have enough to keep them in the top tier, but they have to win these home games.
Onto our Football Bet of the Day, and I’ve picked out Como to score over 2.5 goals at 4/1. I think they have proven themselves to be excellent in front of goal in the last two games, after a sluggish start to this new campaign. They scored three goals away at Atalanta in that phenomenal first win, and prior to that they had an exciting 2-2 draw with Bologna.
I think they will want to come out on the front foot, and Verona have looked slightly weak at the back of late. They’ve conceded five goals in their last two games, losing 3-2 to Torino and having centre-back Paweł Dawidowicz sent off last time out. That means he will miss this one, which leads me to believe that we will see the home side score at least three goals.
At big odds, that is our Football Bet of the Day for Sunday, September 29.
