La Liga strugglers Las Palmas are in action on Thursday (18:00, Premier Sports 1) as they welcome Real Betis to Estadio de Gran Canaria. Los Amarillos are winless this season after six matches and things don't look like they are going to improve soon.

Real Betis were beaten at home to Mallorca on Monday but they had won their two fixtures prior to that game, and they will have a good opportunity to bounce back against the side who are at the bottom of the table. Read on for my Las Palmas vs Real Betis prediction, featuring match odds and team news.

Las Palmas vs Real Betis Betting Tips

  • Real Betis to win @ 13/10
  • Oli McBurnie to receive a card @ 13/5

Las Palmas vs Real Betis Odds

Las Palmas are 9/4, or a 30.8% chance, to pick up their first win of the campaign. Real Betis are valued at 13/10 to take the three points, giving them an implied probability of 43.5%. The draw can be backed at 11/5 (31.3%).

Both teams to score is on offer at 4/5, while over 2.5 goals is marketed at 11/10. Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso has scored three times in La Liga so far this season and he is 18/5 to score at any stage during Thursday's encounter.

Team News

Las Palmas defender Scott McKenna is going to be spending a spell on the sidelines after he picked up a hamstring injury in training last week. Marvin Park and Mika Marmol have since joined him in the treatment room, with both players picking up injuries in the defeat to Osasuna. So the hosts will be forced into at least two changes for the visit of Betis.

Viti Rozada looks the most likely to come in for Park at right-back, while Alex Suarez could deputise for Marmol in the centre of defence.

Former Sheffield United striker Oli McBurnie was dropped to the bench at the weekend but he did come on at half-time, so he will be pushing for a recall on Thursday. The Scotland international is awaiting to get off the mark in La Liga but he has contributed two assists so far.

Betis boss Manuel Pellegrini is still without the services of Isco, William Carvalho and Youssouf Sabaly due to their respective physical problems. Centre-back Marc Bartra will be assessed ahead of the game, with the player being absent for his side's last five matches.

The visitors have been boosted by Jonny Cardoso's return to training, but it remains to be seen if he is deemed fit enough to start in Gran Canaria. The likes of Pablo Fornals, Romain Perraud, Assane Diao and Juanmi, who scored 16 league goals in 2021-22, are all in contention to start this match.

Real Betis to win @ 13/10

Betis have been somewhat consistent in La Liga this season as they have two wins, two draws and two defeats after their opening six matches. Before a surprising home defeat on Monday, Pellegrini's men had won two in a row against Leganes and Getafe.

Los Verdiblancos will need to find their rhythm if they wish to finish in the European spots once again in 2024/25. They have had to settle for a place in the Europa Conference League this year, but in recent years we have grown used to seeing them in the Europa League. I'm sure the aim will be return to that competition for next season, but the players need to improve to make that a reality.

Betis may count themselves lucky that Las Palmas are their next opponents as they look to get back to winning ways, but they could also fall down the trap of becoming the first team to lose to the league strugglers this term.

I am expecting this match to be like the former, in which Betis deliver a strong away performance to put the Mallorca defeat firmly behind them. The hosts are devoid of any confidence at the moment and Betis can profit from that.

Let's not forget that their winless also spills into last season and so they are now 20 games without a victory. The detrimental effect that can have on players can be catastrophic, especially when once again they will be hoping to avoid relegation.

They will take some comfort from the fact that they have drawn two of their three home games this season but unfortunately I feel Betis have the quality to secure the three points in this one.

Oli McBurnie to receive a card @ 13/5

As the wait for a win goes on, frustration among the players will increase. For Las Palmas forward McBurnie, he has featured in all six games and he is not only waiting to experience a league win but also his first goal in La Liga too.

I'm expecting him to come back into the lineup on Thursday and I think he will be involved in the game, just not in the way he would like. From his Premier League days we all know that the 28-year-old was a bit of a hot-head. He would sometimes show a recklessness in the challenge or get involved in one or two scuffles.

Something tells me we could see him lose his cool in this game, especially if a seventh-straight game without a win looks likely. I believe he is worth backing to pick up a booking here. McBurnie has committed seven fouls in La Liga this season, so I don't think his first yellow card is too far away.

With the frustration building, I can see him going into the book against Betis.
