Torino vs atalanta betting tips

Goals weren't scarce in games involving Torino and Atalanta in the first round of Serie A fixtures; the former shared four goals with AC Milan last Saturday, while on Monday, the latter hit four without reply at Lecce.

The pair meet at the Stadio Olimpico di Torino on Sunday (17:30), and you can build up to the action by checking out my Torino vs Atalanta prediction below, complete with all the latest team news and match odds.

Torino vs Atalanta Betting Tips

  • Duvan Zapata Anytime Scorer @ 2/1
  • Player to Receive a Card - Karol Linetty @ 5/2

Team News

Despite the season being in its early infancy, both sides have several players in the treatment room.

Nikola Vlasic, Perr Schuurs, Zannetos Savva, Pietro Pellegri and Gvidas Gineitis all played no part in pre-season and were absent in Torino's 2-2 draw at AC Milan - the quintet will miss out again on Sunday.

Duvan Zapata will lead the line against his old club, while former Southampton striker Che Adams will hope to make his first start for Torino in place of Antonio Sanabria, who got the nod ahead of the Scotland international at San Siro.

Football Odds

Atalanta also have five players on the injured list - Nicolo Zaniolo, Rafael Toloi, Gianluca Scamacca, Giorgio Scalvini and Sead Kolasinac - while Ademola Lookman appears to be nearing a move away from Bergamo and so is unlikely to be considered for selection again.

Summer arrivals Mateo Retegui and Marco Brescianini each bagged a brace in Monday's 4-0 victory over Lecce and will start in attack with Charles De Ketelaere.

Torino beat Atalanta 3-0 in Turin last December and are 11/5, or a 31.3% chance, to pick up all three points again at home. Sunday's visitors are 13/10 to claim back-to-back Serie A victories, giving La Dea an implied win probability of 43.5%.

There hasn't been a stalemate between these two since a 4-4 thriller at the Gewiss Stadium in April 2022; a draw is priced up at 9/4 this weekend.

Both teams to score is available at 4/5 and over 2.5 total goals can be backed at 1/1.

Duvan Zapata Anytime Scorer @ 2/1

Zapata established himself as a firm favourite amongst Atalanta supporters during his five-season stay in Bergamo, scoring 82 times in 191 appearances. 69 of his strikes arrived in Serie A, making him La Dea's highest-non-Italian goalscorer in the division.

The Colombian joined Torino in August 2023, initially on loan but with an obligation to buy. He struck 12 times in his debut campaign for the club and is already off to a great start this season, netting in a 2-0 victory over Cosenza in the Coppa Italia before scoring Torino's second in a 2-2 draw with AC Milan.

Up against his former side, Zapata is sure to be fired up this weekend. The 33-year-old scored twice in the corresponding fixture last season, firing a 22nd-minute opener before rounding off the game with a strike in added time to make it 3-0.

Atalanta kept a clean sheet against Lecce but Torino and Zapata are sure to make life much harder for them on Sunday, and I think Zapata will make himself the headline once again.

Player to Receive a Card - Karol Linetty @ 5/2

Torino received four yellow cards at San Siro last Saturday but, remarkably, Karol Linetty's name didn't appear in the referee's notebook.

I say remarkably because the 29-year-old midfielder was booked a whopping 12 times in just 28 Serie A appearances last season - twice against Atalanta. He was shown a yellow in the fifth minute of Torino's home victory against Atalanta in December and in the 58th minute of their 3-0 reverse in Bergamo.

The Pole averaged 1.8 fouls per game in Serie A last season, so his yellow card statistics are no great surprise.

He kept his slate clean against AC Milan, but I think we'll see a return to the real Linetty this weekend to make it three cards on the bounce against Atalanta.
