Man City to win
Pep Guardiola's men will be out for vengeance after suffering defeat in the FA Cup final to Manchester United just three months ago, and the traditional curtain-raiser hasn't been kind to Manchester City over recent years.
However, all the signs point towards this game going City's way - they recorded a league double over their local rivals last term, producing a fine display in the 3-0 win at Old Trafford before piling on more misery at the Etihad. In addition, Guardiola's side have won three of the previous five fixtures between the clubs.
United's injury woes from last year looked to have carried over into their pre-season preparations as new signing Leny Yoro is already on the treatment table, and has recently been joined by Rasmus Hojlund, meaning that the Red Devils could enter this showdown without a recognised striker.
There are further concerns in defence as Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka appear to be doubtful, which is alarming when coming up against a goal machine like Erling Haaland - more on him later.
Over 2.5 goals
Usually, Community Shield matches are tightly-contested affairs, with seven of the last 10 going under the 2.5 line, but I believe there'll be goals on Saturday afternoon.
There's been plenty of goalmouth action in both sides' pre-season campaigns in the USA, and seven of the last 10 encounters between the pair have seen this bet land, including the past two FA Cup finals, which both ended 2-1 to the winning side.
With the likes of Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne and Marcus Rashford expected to feature this weekend, both sides have firepower within their ranks.
Erling Haaland to score anytime
Haaland could have a field day on Saturday with the injuries United have to their backline. The big Norwegian also loves a Manchester derby, and has six goals in last six appearances against Erik ten Hag's side.
The former Borussia Dortmund forward bagged three in City's win over Chelsea in pre-season, meaning that he's netted two hat-tricks in his last six outings for club and country.
United struggled at the back last term in what was their worst-ever Premier League campaign, and pre-season doesn't look to have solved any of their defensive worries, conceding in all but one game.
Haaland doesn't need many chances to get on the scoresheet, but I think he'll be granted plenty on Saturday - he's bound to score one.
