Two traditional Premier League powerhouses lock horns at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon (16:30, Sky Sports Main Event), as European Conference League hopefuls Manchester United host title-chasing Arsenal.

Read below for my Man United vs Arsenal prediction as the Gunners go for victory in pursuit of a first league title since 2004.

Man United vs Arsenal Betting Tips

  • Bukayo Saka 3+ shots on target @ 4/1
  • Arsenal to win to nil @ 7/4

Team News

Lisandro Martinez returned to Man United team training earlier this week but Erik ten Hag said Sunday's game is too early for the Argentine defender to make his comeback from injury.

Mason Mount has joined a lengthy injury list containing the likes of Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof, while Luke Shaw has suffered a setback in his recovery.

Bruno Fernandes should be fine to return after a rare absence on Monday.

Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Takehiro Tomiyasu have been carrying knocks but the expectation is that both will be fit to feature on Sunday, while Mikel Arteta could welcome back Jurrien Timber into the squad for the first time since August.

Unsurprisingly, Man United are big outsiders to triumph on Sunday, with odds of 13/2 giving them an implied win probability of 13.3%, while Arsenal are 4/11, or a 73.3% chance, to record a fifth successive victory.

The draw can be backed at 9/2, both teams to score at 8/15, and over 3.5 goals at 10/11.

Arsenal won September's reverse fixture 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium, and you can back the Gunners to win by that scoreline again at 9/1.

Bukayo Saka 3+ shots on target @ 4/1

I experienced some joy with a similar selection last month as I successfully tipped Liverpool's Mohamed Salah to register at least three shots on target at Old Trafford, and we can do something similar on Sunday with another left-footed right-winger who has a history of tormenting the Red Devils.

Bukayo Saka has scored three goals in eight Premier League appearances against Man United, with all three strikes coming in his last four appearances. His shots on target totals in those games read two, two, one and two respectively.

I can see him finding even more space on Sunday against a disjointed United side that is severely hampered by injuries, particularly in defence.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka deputised at left-back once again for Shaw at Selhurst Park on Monday, but the former Crystal Palace full-back struggled to contain the Eagles' right-winger Michael Olise, who hit the target three times, scoring twice.

In United's previous game, a 2-2 home draw with Burnley, Clarets winger Wilson Odobert registered a couple of shots on target, as did forward Lyle Foster.

Prior to that, Sheffield United's Ben Brereton Diaz hit the target twice, and their right wing-back Jayden Bogle got on the scoresheet alongside the Chile international.

And, if we go back to a 4-3 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on April 4, Cole Palmer scored a hat-trick, hitting the target five times in the process.

Put simply, United are an absolute shambles in defence (as well as in midfield, attack, and most other areas of the club). Saka had three shots on target against Bournemouth last weekend, and I'm backing him to repeat that feat on Sunday.

Bukayo saka 3+ shots on target in man united vs arsenal at 4-1

Arsenal to win to nil @ 7/4

Goals were the one thing you could rely on United for, but their 4-0 defeat in south London earlier this week saw their 21-game run of scoring ended in humiliating fashion.

Next up is a game against the Premier League's meanest defence, with the Gunners conceding at least five fewer goals (28) than any other side.

A clean sheet against the Cherries last week was their third in four games, and their defence looks to be back to its best after previously looking shaky in games against Bayern Munich and Aston Villa.

With so much on the line for Arteta's side, I think they will be at their best on Sunday, and that means shutting out the opposition on their way to another win, which will aid their Premier League title aspirations.

Betfred are running their famed Double Delight & Hat-trick Heaven offer on this match, meaning that if a player scores first and then nets again, you will be paid at double the odds. If he grabs a hat-trick, you will be paid at treble the odds!

Arsenal to win to nil vs man united at 7-4
