Brighton vs Roma Prediction: Big price for away win

Brighton’s Europa League hopes all but evaporated in the Italian capital last week as Roma secured a 4-0 victory at the Stadio Olimpico. However, they will now launch their comeback mission at the Amex, as Daniele De Rossi brings the Italian giants to the south coast. This one kicks-off at 20:00 live on TNT Sports as Roberto De Zerbi tries to do the unthinkable.
Here’s our Brighton vs Roma prediction, featuring team news, match odds and a couple of betting selections.
Team News
The Brighton boss still has several key options out of contention, such as Solly March, Kaoru Mitoma and Jack Hinshelwood. Along with James Milner and Joao Pedro, we are looking at five potential starters missing, although Igor and Julio Enciso should make the bench here.
Romelu Lukaku is likely to miss this one after he trained on his own on Wednesday, with De Rossi unlikely to risk his star striker with such a healthy advantage. Paulo Dybala is fit to play, but Rasmus Kristensen and Tammy Abraham remain sidelined. The manager could choose to bring some fringe players into the mix, if he feels the tie is won.
Match Odds
Brighton are somewhat surprisingly the 4/5 favourites to win this match, with Roma 3/1 for the win in 90 minutes. A draw can be backed at 16/5, BTTS is 8/13 and over 2.5 goals is the same price.
BTTS @ 8/13
Roma showed how good they are from an attacking perspective in the first leg, while the last time they failed to score was on January 10, against fierce rivals Lazio. They’ve scored a whopping 13 goals in their last four outings, and will surely find the net against Brighton here.
They’ve also been susceptible defensively however, conceding twice again at the weekend and failing to keep a clean sheet in four of their last five league matches. Brighton aren’t quite as used to getting both teams on the scoresheet, but in a game where they simply have to attack, I really like this selection.
Roma to win @ 3/1
I’m baffled at Roma’s price here. I suppose when you take into consideration the fact that Brighton have to win, and the Italians may make some changes it makes some sense, but I just believe Roma are a far superior outfit. Even without Lukaku they should be able to pick Brighton off on the counter-attack and the Seagulls have hardly been convincing over the last few weeks.
I’m happy to back the away side here, and combine our two selections to produce a huge price of 11/2 for BTTS and Roma to win. I’m expecting a slightly chaotic game at the Amex, with plenty of goals, and ultimately, another win for I Giallorossi.
