Wycombe Wanderers will be hoping to move a step closer to the EFL Trophy final on Wednesday (KO, 19:00) when they host Brighton U21s for a place in the Southern section final.

The winner of this tie at Adams Park will take on Peterborough United in the Southern final and put themselves just one more victory away from a trip to Wembley for the final, where Blackpool or Bradford City will await.

Wycombe vs Brighton U21 Betting Tips:

  • Wycombe to win @ 1/2

Team News

Wycombe are without the services of winger Chem Campbell, who is cup-tied, with his place in the starting XI expected to be taken by Kieran Sadlier.

For Brighton, Casper Nilsson and Marcus Ifill could be reinstalled to the XI, while Josh Duffus is also available after he wasn't part of the senior squad that travelled to Luton Town on Tuesday.

Match Odds

Wycombe are the 1/2 favourites to pick up the win that will see them advance to the Southern section final, with the draw priced at 3/1 and Brighton's U21s available at 4/1.

Both teams to score can be backed at 8/13, while it is 6/5 that both sides don't hit the back of the net.

Wycombe to win @ 1/2

Brighton U21s deserve huge credit for getting this far in the competition, as they are the last U21 team remaining, but this impressive run looks like it will come to an end at Adams Park.

Shannon Ruth's side has been built on a strong defence and since conceding two goals in their opening Group A game, a 3-2 victory over Walsall, they have kept clean sheets in their next four matches.

However, the young Seagulls have struggled on the road of late, losing three of their last four away fixtures in all competitions and conceding nine goals in the process.

While they may keep things tighter on Wednesday, it looks like they may succumb to a Wycombe side that will be going all out for the win with a trip to Wembley in their sights.

The Chairboys are fighting against relegation from League One, as they sit just two places and four points above the drop zone, but the EFL Trophy has proven to be a nice distraction for them.

Wycombe have won all five of their EFL Trophy matches to reach this stage, beating three U21 sides in the process, and they have suffered just one defeat from their last seven matches in all competitions.

Matt Bloomfield's side are also unbeaten in their last five assignments at Adams Park and the extra experience in the squad should see them through in what could be a tight encounter.

A 1-0 win for Wycombe in the correct score market at 7/1 appeals, but the more reserved play is to back the hosts to win in normal time at 1/2.
