Saturday BTTS Tips: 18/1 Acca for the 3PM Matches
All three of my Saturday columns came up one-leg short last week and in the BTTS one, it was my Pompey who let me down, failing to score at home against Blackpool. Double whammy.
This week we go six-games deep with a price of 18/1 for our Saturday BTTS Tips...
Saturday BTTS Tips - 2 December, 2023
- Back BTTS Yes in Birmingham City vs Rotherham United @ 5/6
- Back BTTS Yes in Ipswich Town vs Coventry City @ 8/13
- Back BTTS Yes in Leeds United vs Middlesbrough @ 4/7
- Back BTTS Yes in AFC Fylde vs Hartlepool Town @ 1/2
- Back BTTS Yes in Aveley vs Farnborough @ 8/13
- Back BTTS Yes in Havant & Waterlooville vs Dover Athletic @ 8/11
- Overall Odds - 18/1
Leg 1 - Birmingham City vs Rotherham United @ 5/6
The Wayne Rooney era isn’t exactly going terrifically is it? The new ownership group decided to make a splash and bring in the former England striker but his managerial prowess is still shall we say, a work in progress.
One thing that he has done though is ramp up the BTTS record of his new club as the Blues are now riding a five-game streak where this bet has been a winner.
Rotherham are one of the worst sides in the division and look very much on course to spend the 23/24 campaign down in League 1. They have in recent weeks, however, picked up when it comes to scoring as they’ve found the back of the net in four of their past five. They also conceded in all five.
You can see where I’m going with this. Recent form suggests that despite the relatively big odds of 5/6, this is a solid opening leg.
Leg 2 - Ipswich Town vs Coventry City @ 8/13
This selection is based much more on what the home side do compared to the visitors. Only twice this season have supporters at Portman Road not been treated to seeing both teams scoring.
The Tractor Boys have conceded double the amount of goals at home compared to what they’ve done on their travels. At this point in the season, that moves from a quirk to a trend.
BTTS is a play down in Suffolk far more often than its not, and I’ll take it this weekend against a Coventry side who have scored five in their past two on the road.
Leg 3 - Leeds United vs Middlesbrough @ 4/7
This should be a really good game, and it is slightly disappointing that it isn’t one of the live offerings on Sky Sports this weekend.
Only three sides in the Championship have scored more times than Daniel Farke’s men. The German manager had a reputation at Norwich of being a man who likes his team to play on the front foot, and that seems to have melded nicely with the squad that he has at his disposal at Elland Road.
The last time Middlesbrough failed to score in a game was back in October. They were prolific in November scoring ten times in four games. BTTS has also been a winner in their past four away from the Riverside. I like action in this one.
Leg 4 - AFC Fylde vs Hartlepool Town @ 1/2
Oh how I hate myself. AFC Fylde are 68% for BTTS so far this season and 77% for Over 2.5. They are regulars in those respective Saturday columns here on Betfred Insights but now in the seven times I’ve put them in, only once have they been a winner for me. I am most certainly their bad luck charm but statistics don’t lie.
Hartlepool are 77% for BTTS and are top of the charts in the National League. All the numbers say this is one of the best plays of the weekend, hence the short odds but I put this leg in with utmost trepidation as the Lancashire club have hurt me so many times.
Leg 5 - Aveley vs Farnborough @ 8/13
We have two selections from the National League South and the first of them involve an Aveley side who are riding a nice four-game streak of this bet being a winner.
James Webster’s men were the early front-runners in the division but Yeovil Town have certainly made their move and pulled away from the chasing pack. They are still sitting pretty in third though.
This weekend they welcome in a Farnborough side who are the joint top-scorers in the bottom half of the table. The Hampshire club have scored on 33 occasions through 20 games and have found the back of the net in their past five on their travels. I’m expecting a low-scorer but I think both sides get at least one.
Leg 6 - Havant & Waterlooville vs Dover Athletic @ 8/11
We round out this column back at one of my old stomping grounds, and with the club where my best mate from back home is still a season ticket holder. Every week he tells me how bad they are and yet he keeps going. Being a fan sometimes is not good for your health is it?
These are the two sides mired at the bottom-of-the-table. Havant & Waterlooville have conceded seven more times than the second worst defensive record in the division and Dover are not much better.
Two awful records at the back should lead to plenty of action and BTTS has been a winner in the past five for the Hawks.
