The South Sydney Rabbitohs have received a huge boost with the return of skipper Cameron Murray as they prepare to host the Brisbane Broncos on Friday morning (11:00). Souths have been way off the high standards they set themselves this season but injuries have not helped their cause.

With Murray returning after a big win over the Gold Coast Titans last time around, the Bunnies should fancy their chances of recording back-to-back home wins for the first time this season. Read on for my South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Brisbane Broncos predictions and all the latest team news.

  • South Sydney Rabbitohs to win @ 7/5
  • Over 49.5 total points @ 5/6

Team News

Murray’s return from a hip injury is a significant boost for the hosts ahead of this clash at Accor Stadium. The skipper has been named on the interchange bench, with Siliva Havili dropping out of the 17-man squad.

That’s the only change from the squad that earned a 46-12 win over the Titans last time out.

As for the Broncos, experienced winger Corey Oates will not feature on Friday after picking up a knee injury.

It means Josiah Karapani is in line to make his third NRL appearance of the season, while Xavier Willison and Kotoni Staggs are also high-profile absentees for the travelling Broncos.

South Sydney are the 7/5 underdogs to claim the win on home soil this week, while Brisbane are the 8/13 favourites to head back to Queensland with the spoils.

The Rabbitohs to win by 1-12 points is available at 13/5, while the Broncos are 11/5 in the same winning margin market.

South Sydney Rabbitohs to win @ 7/5

The Rabbitohs have struggled with just three wins this season but it looks like they might have turned a corner after that thrashing of the Titans last time out.

Full-back Latrell Mitchell has been in outstanding form and impressed once again against Gold Coast. Scoring 48 points in his last four games, Mitchell is a player the Broncos will have to look out for.

Brisbane have lost their last two matches, both at home, against the Titans and the Cronulla Sharks.

In poor form at present and with some big names missing, it’s hard to see Brisbane turning their fortunes around at Accor Stadium on Friday.

South Sydney Rabbitohs to beat Brisbane Broncos at 7-5

Over 49.5 total points @ 5/6

Scoring 88 points in their last two games against the Parramatta Eels and the Titans, the Rabbitohs have found their rhythm in attack.

Mitchell has been scoring points for fun over the last month and he will be determined to keep up that level of performance against last season’s NRL Grand Final runners-up.

With Brisbane also capable with the ball in hand, averaging 24.8 points per game, this could well be a high-scoring clash in Sydney and over 49.5 total points looks achievable.
