The Canberra Raiders are a team low on confidence right now and the last thing they will want is a trip to NRL frontrunners Melbourne Storm on Saturday morning (10:35).

Canberra head into this game at AAMI Park on the back of heavy defeats to the North Queensland Cowboys and Wests Tigers, and things will get even harder against a Storm side who are looking to make it four wins on the bounce this weekend and try to pull away from the chasing pack at the top of the NRL table. Read on for my Melbourne Storm vs Canberra Raiders predictions and all the latest team news.

Melbourne Storm vs Canberra Raiders Betting Tips

  • Melbourne Storm -12 handicap @ 11/10
  • Melbourne Storm over 30.5 total points @ 20/21

Team News

Starting with the hosts, Storm boss Craig Bellemy has decided to rest hooker Harry Grant after his efforts in Game Two of the State of Origin series on Wednesday, but winger Xavier Coates will feature against the Raiders.

Su'a Fa'alogo shifts to full-back in place of the injured Ryan Papenhuyzen who has sustained a foot problem. Bronson Garlick replaces Grant at hooker, while Kane Bradley comes in on the bench.

As for the Raiders, their hooker Tom Starling has come through concussion protocols and takes the place of Zac Woolford in the starting line-up.

Jordan Martin should make his NRL debut in the second-row off the bench, while winger Albert Hopoate comes in for the injured Nick Cotric.

Melbourne Storm vs Canberra Raiders Odds

Melbourne are the heavy 3/10 favourites to come out on top at AAMI Park this weekend, while Canberra are 13/5 to head back to the Australian capital with the win.

A tie in Melbourne is available at 22/1, while the Storm to win both halves on Saturday is currently 5/4.

Melbourne Storm -12 handicap @ 11/10

Melbourne were not firing on all cylinders last time out against the Dolphins but still got the job done in a 30-24 victory.

The Storm will be hoping to let loose on Saturday at AAMI Park against a Raiders team who will be reeling from those recent defeats to the Cowboys and the Tigers that has left them down in 11th place on the table.

The Storm have won six of their past eight games against the Raiders and, on home soil, Melbourne should have enough to claim the win and overcome the -12 handicap on offer here.

Melbourne Storm over 30.5 total points @ 20/21

Conceding 82 points in their last two games against the Cowboys and the Tigers, Canberra boss Ricky Stuart will be asking serious questions about his Raiders defence in the build-up to their trip to Victoria.

The Storm have scored at least 24 points in their past four games and, against a Canberra side who have been slipping off too many tackles of late, Melbourne can rack up over 30.5 total points on Saturday.
