Friday Lucky 15 Tips: Dancing Danny can strike

Lucky 15

A sensational opening day at Aintree yesterday as the Grand National Festival got off to an absolute flyer. No question then where I'm headed for Friday's Lucky 15 tips - it's to Sefton in Merseyside, for day two of this magnificent meeting that Liverpool hosts so well.

Despite grim warnings about the ground I thought the track stood up quite well - but the National course is softer, and therefore a tougher 'ask.' The Topham today, at 16:05, will use some of those famous fences, and at 2m 5f it will still take some getting.

Lucky 15 tips Friday

  • 13:45 Aintree - Inothewayurthinkin @ 5/2
  • 14:55 Aintree - Mystical Power @ 11/8
  • 16:05 Aintree - Life In The Park @ 15/2
  • 16:40 Aintree - Dancing City @ 4/1

13:45 Aintree - Inothewayurthinkin @ 5/2

Some fabulous novice chasers, and as we saw plenty of Cheltenham form upheld yesterday, here's another opportunity. Inothewayurthinkin was massively impressive when taking the Kim Muir, and I can't oppose him today.

Gavin Cromwell trains and owner JP's main jockey in Ireland, Mark Walsh, takes the mount. Up a stonking 13lb for that Festival win. Small field, sensational contest in prospect.

14:55 Aintree - Mystical Power @ 11/8

Another JP McManus-owned, Mark Walsh-ridden star - this time from the Willie Mullins yard. Carried out on his shield in the Supreme at HQ, beaten just a length-and-a-half. Lightly-raced - and at just five years old, the best is surely yet to come.

Flat track could suit beautifully, too.

16:05 Aintree - Life In The Park @ 15/2

Time to catch up with Rachael Blackmore, so unlucky in yesterday's Aintree Hurdle. She rides Life In The Park for her boss Henry De Bromhead, and this seven-year-old ran a blinder in the Plate at Cheltenham in a career-best.

Shrewd handler rarely leaves the big shows without a scorer or two ...

16:40 Aintree - Dancing City @ 4/1

Backed this one at the Festival (Albert Bartlett), and thought the track didn't really suit. Still finished a game third. Had previously shown stellar form on the flatter terrain of Leopardstown, a track not unlike Aintree, and he can bounce back beautifully here.

The brilliant Danny Mullins rides for Uncle Willie and Mrs Donnelly - the owner of State Man, Sir Gino and a host of superstars in recent times.

Another scintillating contest.

If you're playing enjoy, have fun, and the very best of luck.

This is an example of a Lucky 15. If you can improve upon my selections (of course you can), then go for it!

The odds can fluctuate between publishing our pieces and race-time. As a guide, a £0.50p win Lucky 15 on today's selections, at the prices, and assuming all four won, would return around £400 for your total £7.50 stake.
