Eldorado Allen Grand National Odds 2024: Big outsider for Tizzard

Every year at the Grand National grey horses receive plenty of betting interest, and one of that contingent in 2024 will be the Dorset-based Eldorado Allen, who is looking to get back on track after a couple of pretty ordinary runs by doing well at the Aintree Grand National.

Trainer Joe Tizzard has certainly laid his cards on the table when it comes to the ground that he’s looking for for Eldorado Allen at the Aintree Grand National on Saturday. He wants the ground to firm up and hopes that the rain which has been seemingly non-stop in the north-west goes away for a few days.

The last time we saw this horse out on track was in the Ultima at the Cheltenham Festival, where his jockey pulled him up, but he’s been extremely consistent throughout most of his career and keeps putting in good performances no matter where and who he’s up against. The one thing, though, that has become apparent is that as he ages his preference for firmer ground becomes more and more obvious. Hence why his chances at the Aintree Grand National are so dependent on the ground.

His best run was clearly back in 2022, when we saw him win the Grade 2 Denman Chase at Newbury and he followed up that win by placing in the Ryanair at Cheltenham, finishing third behind odds-on favourite Allaho and fellow Grand National long-shot Janidil.

It would be a massive shock to see him at the front and challenging for the win but if you’ve pulled him in the office pool, you certainly have the fact he’s generally pretty consistent going for you. Keep an eye on the ground though, as the softer it is, the worse his chances are.
