Adamantly Chosen Grand National Odds 2024: Classy outsider interests

Sometimes when trying to decide which horse you should back in a big race, you can get overloaded with data and statistics. This Willie Mullins-trained horse would probably not have been on the radar of most, having struggled to replicate his form from his previous campaign this time around, yet after a strong win at Down Royal last month in a field which boasted two other potential Grand National entries, you could be forgiven for giving Adamantly Chosen a closer look.

This form from a year or so ago that had so eluded him included finishing second in a pair of Grade 1 races to Mighty Potter and Gerri Colombe, both of whom are very serious horses with promising futures.

Before that victory at Down Royal, he had yet to place, having finished a total of 68 lengths behind the leader in his three races so far. Maybe the light has switched on and what we saw last time out is what we’ll see going forward. His jockey in that victory did say that the quicker ground in the spring would help, although the rain that the north-west has been experiencing in recent times doesn’t suggest that it will exactly be fast ground on Saturday.

That victory saw his odds halve in the Ante-Post markets and he’ll be priced up as an interesting each-way shot for the Grand National. Whether he lives up to that billing is up in the air but there is certainly a bit of class in this horse, whether that is enough I have my doubts.
