Scotland are gearing up for their second consecutive appearance at the European Championship finals, and the Tartan Army will be hoping that they can venture further than the group stage this time around.

The only problem is that they are in one of the toughest groups, Group A, featuring hosts Germany, Hungary and Switzerland. Below are my Euro 2024 Scotland predictions, including odds.

Euro 2024 Betting Odds - Scotland

  • Scotland to win Euro 2024 @ 150/1
  • To win Group A @ 8/1
  • To qualify from Group A @ 6/5
  • Stage of elimination - Group stage @ 10/11
  • Team top goalscorer - Lawrence Shankland @ 7/2

Manager Steve Clarke will be concerned by his team's form heading into the tournament. In their recent friendlies they beat Gibraltar, unconvincingly, and were then held to a 2-2 draw with Finland, although this was a better performance.

With the calibre of their opponents in Group A, Clarke and his players know that they will need to be at their absolute best to progress to the knockout stage.

Euro 2024 Odds

Squad

Goalkeepers: Zander Clark (Hearts), Angus Gunn (Norwich), Liam Kelly (Motherwell).

Defenders: Liam Cooper (Leeds), Grant Hanley (Norwich), Jack Hendry (Al Ettifaq), Ross McCrorie (Bristol City), Scott McKenna (Copenhagen), Ryan Porteous (Watford), Anthony Ralston (Celtic), Andy Robertson (Liverpool), Greg Taylor (Celtic), Kieran Tierney (Real Sociedad).

Midfielders: Stuart Armstrong (Southampton), Ryan Christie (Bournemouth), Billy Gilmour (Brighton), Ryan Jack (free agent), Kenny McLean (Norwich), John McGinn (Aston Villa), Callum McGregor (Celtic), Scott McTominay (Manchester United).

Forwards: Che Adams (Southampton), Tommy Conway (Bristol City), James Forrest (Celtic), Lewis Morgan (New York Red Bulls), Lawrence Shankland (Hearts).

Scotland to win Euro 2024 @ 150/1

A high price as you would expect for Scotland to go all the way in Germany. With this being only their second Euros appearance since 1996, the Tartan Army would need a gargantuan effort to become the European champions this summer, and they will need such an effort to get out of the group stage alone.

To win Group A @ 8/1

You'd think this price would be higher given the level of opponents Scotland will face here but it still offers decent value. I don't see Scotland coming out on top but seeing as this is a tough group, I can also being the points ending up being evenly shared.

Scotland do have some talented players in their squad and it wasn't too long ago that they stumped former European and world champions Spain, beating them 2-0 at Hampden Park in qualifying.

To qualify from Group A @ 6/5

This could be a more enticing bet if you think the Tartan Army have what it takes to march on to the knockout stage. I see this group having a very competitive tussle for qualification, and I can also see Group A producing one of the four third-place qualifying spots.

Stage of elimination - Group stage @ 10/11

Sorry Scotland fans but I think this will be another tournament where you suffer a premature exit. In another group I could have perhaps seen them having a shot of progressing, but in Group A I do not believe they are as strong as their three opponents.

Team top goalscorer - Lawrence Shankland @ 7/2

Off the back of another 24-goal season for Hearts in the Scottish Premiership, this time winning him the Golden Boot, Lawrence Shankland will have the nation's hopes on his shoulders, for the group stage at least.

The striker may have just three goals in 11 appearances for the Tartan Army but he will head into the Euros with confidence after his domestic campaign and he is the sensible selection to score the most goals for Scotland.

I did almost consider Scott McTominay at 9/2 because he seems to find his scoring boots when playing for his national team. I wouldn't blame anyone for going down this avenue as I was torn between the top two choices myself. He managed seven goals in eight of Scotland's qualifiers and he will look to carry that momentum with him into the tournament finals.

Lawrence Shankland Scotland's top scorer at 7/2
