Uttoxeter stages a six-race Jumps card on Wednesday 19 July 2023. The action gets underway at 14:40 and runs through until 17:15.
2.40 – Rock On Tommy
Wednesday’s card gets underway with a two-mile handicap hurdle and Rock On Tommy looks set to star. Olly Murphy’s charge bolted up over course and distance eight days ago and a seven-pound penalty isn’t likely to stop a repeat victory.
The eight-year-old was a five-length winner in the same grade last time out, in a race where jockey Lewis Stones lost his irons, and Rock On Tommy was value for even further than that comfortable winning margin.
There doesn’t appear to be too many rivals in the field capable of troubling Rock On Tommy and he looks good value to follow up.
4.10 – Jersey Wonder
Jersey Wonder has dropped to a mark of 116, having previously been rated as high as 128 over hurdles and Oliver Sherwood’s star looks capable of making an impact in the 16:10.
Only five runners are set to go to post in the three-mile handicap and that could allow Brendan Powell to boss things from the front on the tough seven-year-old.
All of today’s four rivals were held up on their last start and, if Jersey Wonder does get the run of the race, he’s well enough handicapped to take advantage.
4.40 – Carlo Du Berlai
Carlo Du Berlai’s sole rules victory came over course and distance two starts ago and Fergal O’Brien’s lightly raced six-year-old can score again at the Staffordshire venue.
The six-year-old ran well when narrowly beaten into third over track and trip last time out and jockey Connor Brace dropped his whip in a tight finish.
Carlo Du Berlai has had just two chase starts and there could be more to come from O’Brien’s charge.
