WTA Adelaide Tips: Paula to inflict more pain on Czech

It's 2026 Adelaide International time, and in the Women's Singles, standout fixtures include Paula Badosa against Marie Bouzkova and Daria Kasatkina against Maria Sakkari.
Both matches feature in my WTA Adelaide Tips for Monday, January 12, which you can check out below.

Match Betting - Paula Badosa (ESP) to beat Marie Bouzkova (CZE) @ 4/6
Badosa continued her dominance over Bouzkova with a 6-7, 6-4, 6-2 victory at the Brisbane International last Tuesday. That win was Badosa's fifth against the Czech No. 4, who is yet to taste success against the Spaniard, although, in her defence, she was forced to retire at 3-3 in the first set of one of those matches.
Badosa was beaten 3-6, 2-6 in the following round by World No. 5 Elena Rybakina, but the 28-year-old's confidence shouldn't have taken too much of a hit from that defeat, and after missing the majority of the last six months of 2025, she will be raring to go again in Adelaide on Monday.
Bouzkova lost in the second round of the Adelaide International qualifiers, suffering a 4-6, 6-7 defeat to Yulia Putintseva, who is 28 places below her in the WTA Rankings, but she has been handed a Lucky Loser spot in the main draw.
The 27-year-old won't have been overjoyed to discover her opponent is Badosa, though, given her career struggles against the Spaniard, who can make it six wins from six on Monday.

Match Betting - Maria Sakkari (GRE) to beat Daria Kasatkina (AUS) @ 8/13
Kasatkina won her first four meetings with Sakkari, but the Greek player triumphed 6-0, 6-3 in their last head-to-head at the Berlin Open in June 2022.
Sakkari arrives at this sixth instalment in a confident mood, having opened up the calendar year with victories over a pair of US Open champions, two-time winner Naomi Osaka (6-4, 6-2) and 2021 star Emma Raducanu (6-3, 3-6, 6-1) at the United Cup.
The 30-year-old was beaten 3-6, 2-6 by 2023 US Open champion and current World No. 4 Coco Gauff in her third contest of 2026 last Wednesday, but that defeat was nothing to be ashamed about.
Kasatkina, meanwhile, ended 2025 with three consecutive defeats, and she started this year off with a 5-7, 6-4, 4-6 loss to Anastasia Potapova at the Brisbane International last Sunday.
I think Sakkari's current level and momentum will see her advance to the next round in Adelaide, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Kasatkina take the match to a deciding set.
