Wimbledon Centre Court

Friday will see the remaining men at Wimbledon battle it out for a place in the final, as Carlos Alcaraz faces Daniil Medvedev, and Novak Djokovic comes up against Lorenzo Musetti on Centre Court. All four men have come through various trials and tribulations to reach this stage, but now it is crunch time at SW19.

Below you can find my Wimbledon Tips for Friday, July 11, as the nation’s attention turns to a couple more intriguing semi-finals.

Wimbledon Tips - Friday, July 12

  • Medvedev vs Alcaraz - Over 38.5 games @ 4/5
  • Djokovic to win 3-0 @ 1/1

Medvedev vs Alcaraz - Over 38.5 games @ 4/5

For the seventh time, Medvedev and Alacaraz will come head-to-head in what is set to be a cracking encounter. This will be their third Wimbledon match-up and the Spaniard certainly has the upper hand when it comes to their past meetings.

He’s up 4-2 in that head-to-head series, but has also won four of their last five meetings since the Russian smashed him in straight sets at SW19 back in 2021. There’s no doubt that Alcaraz has improved hugely in the three years that have passed since then, and only last year he beat Medvedev 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 at Wimbledon, to get his revenge.

Medvedev vs Alcaraz Odds

It’s no surprise that Alcaraz is the favourite then, heading into what should be another epic encounter. The world number three has progressed well so far this summer, with Frances Tiafoe testing him in a five-setter, and Tommy Paul taking the opening set off the Spaniard. I think we will see these two trade sets again here, with Medvedev impressively securing a massive win over Jannik Sinner last time out.

Ultimately, I would back Alcaraz, but I think we are getting far better value in backing there to be over 38.5 games in this one. I’m expecting a long and arduous battle between two of the world’s best.

Wimbledon Odds

Djokovic to win 3-0 @ 1/1

Musetti has written one of the best stories of the tournament this summer, but Djokovic rarely has time for romanticism. At the French Open this year, these two played out a five-set thriller that the Serbian won, and so he will fancy his chances again here. Interestingly, this is the fifth-consecutive Wimbledon that Djokovic will play a first-time Slam semi-finalist and so he is the heavy favourite to progress.

Musetti vs Djokovic Odds

He’s also coming into this semi-final completely fresh, after being given a walkover in the quarter-final due to Alex de Minaur’s withdrawal. Musetti is the new kid on the block and is certainly an exciting prospect, but it’s impossible to back against Djokovic in this scenario. The Serbian icon is targeting his 25th Grand Slam title and his eighth success at Wimbledon. Musetti’s preferred surface is clay, and even under those conditions, he couldn’t beat one of the greatest of all time.

Now playing on grass where Djokovic has been so successful, I’m expecting this to be a straightforward, no-nonsense victory for the current world number two.
