It is crunch time at this year’s US Open with the second batch of quarter-finals in the men and women’s singles draws taking place on Wednesday.

Carlos Alcaraz is the star name involved in the men’s action as he tussles with Alexander Zverev, while Daniil Medvedev is up against compatriot Andrey Rublev.

Women’s Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova, meanwhile, clashes with Madison Keys in her quarter-final, while Aryna Sabalenka takes on Qinwen Zheng.

US Open Tennis Betting Tips – Wednesday 6 September

  • Carlos Alcaraz to win 3-1 v Alex Zverev @ 5/2
  • Marketa Vondrousova to beat Madison Keys @ 11/10
  • Aryna Sabalenka to win 2-0 v Qinwen Zheng @ 8/11

Carlos Alcaraz to win 3-1 v Alexander Zverev @ 5/2

Carlos Alcaraz has made light work of his half of the draw at the men’s US Open so far but he may not have things all his own way in the quarter-finals against Alex Zverev.

It has been a season of resurgence from 12th seed Zverev, who warmed up for Flushing Meadows with a run to the last four of the Cincinnati Masters, and he has carried that form into the US Open, battling hard last time out to beat sixth seed Jannik Sinner in a classic five-set battle.

Zverev also had to come from a set down in the third round to beat Grigor Dimitrov and he will not give up without a fight against Alcaraz.

The 26-year-old German has won three of his five meetings with the young Spaniard, with two of those victories coming on the hard courts, and he can be competitive.

Alcaraz, who is 53-6 for the season, is still the best bet to come out on top but at 5/2, he is worth selecting to win this match 3-1.

Marketa Vondrousova to beat Madison Keys @ 11/10

Madison Keys won the US Open women’s title back in 2017 but this season is only the second time in the last five years she has progressed beyond the third round.

The American took down the well-fancied Jessica Pegula last time out but her journey could come to an end at the hands of Marketa Vondrousova.

Vondrousova became the first unseeded woman to win Wimbledon in the Open Era earlier this season and is targeting a 12th successive Grand Slam match win on Wednesday.

At 11/10, she is worth backing to get the job done with the ninth seed having dropped only her first set of the tournament last time out.

Aryna Sabalenka to win 2-0 v Qinwen Zheng @ 8/11

Following Iga Swiatek’s premature exit at this season’s US Open, Aryna Sabalenka is the favourite for the title and she can show exactly why when she faces Qinwen Zheng.

Sabalenka has been ruthless in New York, having won all four of her matches in straight sets.

She was particularly impressive last time out against 13th seed Daria Kasatkina, prevailing 6-1 6-3, and that was her 21st Grand Slam win of the year.

Zheng took down Ons Jabeur to get this far but the soon-to-be world number one Sabalenka could be a step too far, and the tournament’s second seed is worth a bet to win 2-0.
