The first of the US Open second-round matches takes place on day three of the New York City Grand Slam tournament on Wednesday.

Novak Djokovic tops the bill for the men while top seed Iga Swiatek, fourth seed Elena Rybakina and sixth seed Coco Gauff are the big names in action in the women’s singles.

We have combined four bets for our day three accumulator, which sees us expecting a tough test for the red-hot Coco Gauff. The bet pays out at just over 19/1.

US Open Tennis Accumulator Tips

  • Juan Manuel Cerundolo +8.5 games to beat Alejandro Davidovich Fokina @ 5/6
  • Frances Tiafoe to win 3-0 vs Sebastian Ofner @ EVS
  • Anna Kalinskaya to beat Sorana Cirstea @ 6/4
  • Mirra Andreeva +1.5 sets vs Coco Gauff @ 6/5

Four-fold accumulator @ 19.17/1

Juan Manuel Cerundolo +8.5 games to beat Alejandro Davidovich Fokina @ 5/6

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina has been in impressive form on the hard courts for much of the year and the Spanish powerhouse could take plenty of stopping in the US Open after reaching the semi-finals of the Toronto Masters recently.

Davidovich Fokina is a warm order to progress to round three at Flushing Meadows by seeing off Juan Manuel Cerundolo over the best of five sets, but the young Argentinian is a talented performer in his own right and could offer the favourite a sterner test than many are anticipating.

Cerundolo, who fought back from two sets down to thwart Ilya Ivashka in round one, has been given a start of 8.5 games by the oddsmakers for his clash with the 24-year-old Davidovich Fokina.

But the 21-year-old, the younger brother of Francisco Cerundolo, may just be capable of winning at least one of the first three sets contested and playing a more prominent role in the match as it draws on so the handicap bet looks worth having.

Frances Tiafoe to win 3-0 vs Sebastian Ofner @ EVS

Sebastian Ofner is enjoying a decent year, but the Austrian is essentially a limited performer and he may struggle to live with world number ten Frances Tiafoe in their second-round tussle.

American Tiafoe started the season well and won titles on the Houston clay in April and then on grass in Stuttgart in June.

It looks as if he has taken a bit of a breather since, but his game looked in good order in his Flushing Meadows opener against wild-card Learner Tien, who he swept aside in straight sets, and it could be more of the same when he meets Ofner.

Anna Kalinskaya to beat Sorana Cirstea @ 6/4

As is only right, Sorana Cirstea tends to save her best for Grand Slam tournaments but the Romanian may be up against it in her last-64 outing against Anna Kalinskaya.

It’s 1-1 in their personal series, but Kalinskaya won the first three of the five sets the pair have contested and looks the more progressive of the two.

Aged 33, Cirstea may be exposed as a performer too, while the 24-year-old Kalinskaya has a big future in front of her so it’s a slight surprise to see her on offer at such generous odds to reach the third round.

Mirra Andreeva +1.5 sets vs Coco Gauff @ 6/5

Coco Gauff is a hot tip for this year’s US Open and the American could take plenty of beating in her homeland Grand Slam tournament, but she faces a potentially difficult second-round clash against fellow teenager Mirra Andreeva.

Much is expected of the 16-year-old Andreeva, who reached the last 32 of the French Open and the last 16 of Wimbledon this year.

They were huge efforts and, like Gauff, Andreeva has a stellar future.

Gauff is the in-form player on the WTA Tour, of course, after title triumphs in Washington DC and Cincinnati.

But she will do well to win this match, let alone win it in straight sets, so backing the outsider with a handicap start of 1.5 sets at odds-against looks the way to go.
